    2016 Mazda CX-9 Video Mailer

I got one too - I wonder what this cost and how rare they are. I have a 2010 CX-9 GT/Nav and an 05 Mazda6 GT. Both paid for as well. I'm sure these were highly targeted ads to folks Mazda thinks are ready to upgrade. Looks like they missed the mark on ours too - Maybe check back in 5-10 years!

    Rear camera switch

I'd also like info on this. It would be good for parking too as I sometimes put the car in reverse just to see if I'm lined up OK. While we're on the topic of wishful thinking anyone yet figure out how to trick the nav system to allow use while in motion (by passenger).

    Blue Light

I think the blue light is on when the headlights are on. Seems redundant to the in dash headlight indicator.

    Door Edge Guards?

OK I can say the drillspot edge guards last about 18 months or less. They start falling off in the summer heat, leaving behind a lot of glue residue. It's hard to clean, even with goo gone / goof off, but it eventually cleans up.

    Curt hitch

I have the Allen Sports Premium 5-Bike Hitch Mount Rack It fits well and is sturdy, but you can not open the lift gate with the rack in the upright position. It's a great basic rack for those that don't want to spend a ton. I only have it on when I'm using it.

2010 - Changed oil, only 3 quarts came out.

Hey Jezo, Just changed my oil @ 20k. I change with mobile1 5w20 and Wix filter @ 5k mile increments. 5k miles in about 6-7 months. I may have checked the oil one time during that period and it seemed OK. Today I checked and it was just above the low hole in the dipstick, so my guess was...

2010 - Changed oil, only 3 quarts came out.

OK not too surprising then - that's a pretty long time and mile duration between changes. You could have burned 3 qt over 13k miles. Maybe it didn't start with 6 qt either on the last change. If you're concerned, I'd check the oil level for the next couple gas fill ups to make sure there is...

2010 - Changed oil, only 3 quarts came out.

How many miles did you go since the last change? How many miles on the car? Check your coolant - everything OK there and the right color? I've seen something like this happen where something wasn't sealed properly in the previous change. Filter not tight enough, defective filter seal, etc...

    Here's my 2014 GT

If they offered the 6 in blue in the US, I'd be driving it now... Wake up MazdaUSA!

    CX-9 2009 v/s 2010 GT

With 2010 GT you get BSM (blind spot monitor) standard. I think this was an option on 2009, so the 09 may not have it. With the Nav you get a large touch screen in the center that integrates a bunch of features. The best one is probably using the large screen with the back up camera.

    DIY: Hitch Removal

Hey - nice photography. How did you light the undercarriage? I'm used to seeing (and taking) cell phone pics.

Looking to take off my hitch... what is this "sensor bar" looking thing??

I don't think it's wise to take the hitch off: - Gas savings will be minimal - It's an 08 and likely it's started to rust in place a bit already. Taking it out might mean it will be hard to re-install at a later date.

    Mazda6 transmission fluid change

I did another drain and fill and accidentally put a bit too much fluid in. I was an inch over the hot full mark. I thought this would be way overfilled, but it turned out to only be 1/2 quart. I'm surprised that it was so little. It looks like the difference between low fluid and full is...

    Tank diving or not.........

Check the fuel filter first. Pump is a nasty problem due to access and gas is just nasty stuff to work with. I think there are ways to debug the pump in place. When you turn your key to the on position, the pump turns on for a second and pressurizes the line.

    Starter / power problem

When I had my starter tested at Autozone, they basically just hooked it to a 12V car battery to see if the motor would spin. This may or may not test the clutch, depending on the starter - check if the motor engages. If the starter motor spins and engages, you've probably got a good starter...

    2011 CX9 Touring Transmission service

Doxey - I think you could probably still do a drain and fill yourself. You just need to get access to the fill port on the side of the transmission. I've seen threads for other cars showing some interesting funnel setups (using a clear plastic tube attached to a flexible funnel) that do a good...

    2011 CX9 Touring Transmission service

That seems like a reasonable price for a flush from the dealer. Much cheaper to do yourself, but you didn't get screwed. The fluid is expensive and they probably went through about $100 retail of it for the flush.

    Cargo Net

I have the OEM net from mazdaparts. I use it as an envelope on the back, which works fine. The instructions that came with it showed 3 different configurations. I think I threw them out unfortunately... I think it was: 1. Envelope 2. flat envelope - same as envelope, but horizontal 3...
