    Loss of Power

The air intake hose can be replaced for a lot less than $60. I bought a new one off of Amazon for around $28.00 plus shipping. Do a search for Dorman air intake hose and you find it. I was a little worried the quality wouldn't be all that good when I bought it, but it's fine and certainly works...

Ticking from motor, What is wrong?

My Protege5 has been running poorly for a few days and I replaced all the ignition parts and the EGR is fine. It seemed to help a little. The engine is making a loud ticking noise this evening. Looks like it's my turn for the loose VICS intake butterfly valve. Time to talk to Mazda about the...

    Brake lights not working

Well, the fuse bulbs were okay so I replaced the brake light switch. Still no main brake lights. On to the next thing whatever it is...

    Brake lights not working

Agree, but thought it pretty unlikely that both bulbs would go out at the same time. Will have a look at the bulbs tonight since it is never good to "assume" anything.

    Brake lights not working

I searched the forum, but found nothing about the brake lights on a P5. The problem with my car is that, with the exception of the hatch mounted third light, the brake lights are not working. As a matter of course I checked the fuse and it's okay. Have not checked the bulbs, but can't imagine...

    Burning plastic smell??

For the last few months I've noticed the same smell coming from my P5. Now that it has warmed up here I'll have to look around the engine bay. Have the noisy valvetrain thing going on too.

MAZDA powers CHAMP CAR ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP

Nope. "The Japanese automaker will brand the new 300-horsepower, Cosworth-built 2.3 liter engine which is in fact a Mazda-designed unit, dubbed the MZR, in its production-car origins. The MZR is produced both in Hiroshima, Japan and Hermosillo, Mexico, for use in several Mazda and Ford road...

    FS: mazdaspeed axleback for p5

I bought the exhaust from brucelee and it was just as he advertised it. Obviously shows signs of use, but overall in very good condition. As an early-40s old fart, I'll have to see just how much of an exhaust note I can deal with these days. It might be for sale again ;)

World Challenge Touring - Mosport (SPOILER)

Spoiler warning, but the news will be on the SPEED website by the end of the day anyway. Congrats to Charles Espenlaub on his first World Challenge Touring Car win in the Tindol Motorsports Mazda6 at Mosport. The team has been knocking on the door this season and it is great to see Charles on...

    Road Atlanta at night.

I first drove Road Atlanta in 1994 in a 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfetta at a school event and then in 1995 moved to a beat up blue 1982 ITB Nissan 200SX from the shop of E. Radatz Motorsports. Later drove a Z during a couple of track days and then my current ITS Prelude that I ran under the OPM...

    Road Atlanta at night.

Actually it is the bridge turn before there was a 10a/b. ;) Great photo and haven't seen this one before. While I still enjoy driving on Road Atlanta, I am glad I had the opportunity to race there before the "gravity cavity" was taken out. Neat thing was after hurtling down through the Dip at...

Looking for a reasonable shop to install clutch

That's not good. It gets kind of crazy at OPM during racing season since they take care of a lot of customer race cars and go to a lot of races. Maybe you will hear from them on Monday, but same day would be lots better I think.

Looking for a reasonable shop to install clutch

Would be interested in what kind of prices you are getting for the job when you call around. Just curious and don't plan to share the info with Balanced. They charge what they charge.

Looking for a reasonable shop to install clutch

The cookout wasn't on my calendar since I don't frequent this part of the board much and didn't know about it, but now that you ask, I'll see what I am doing on Sunday. Will dig around the wallet to find $5.00 since this is a bargain for what "manofmacg3" is doing. I'll be the resident old guy...

Looking for a reasonable shop to install clutch

A couple of shops come to mind and I am biased as I know the owners, but both do great work. Balanced Performance Motorsports - Sugar Hill 678-546-3133, balancedperformance.com (Located next to Sunbelt Engines who builds the Protege engines for World Challenge) OPM Autosports - Cumming...
