    Transmission fluid change "How To"

They are describing a flush. They hook up their machine at the radiator because they unplug the send and return lines from the Tranny oil cooler. As the old fluid is pumped out of the tranny it goes into a collection container in the machine and new fluid is pumped by the machine into the...

2008 CX 9 AWD with 103,000 miles on it. Never had a problem

IMHO first thing to do is check the state of your spare tire. It probably hasn't been touched in 5 years. Make sure it's properly inflated and in working order. Then as others have suggested: 1. Tranny drain and fill X3 will get you probably about 90% new fluid in the tranny. Do this over...

    headlight lense question

I don't know of any automakers that sell just the lenses anymore. You usually have to buy the entire assembly. You could try a local junkyard or ebay. Are you sure they can't be professionally restored? I haven't come across many that can't be restored.

Need recommendation on rear differential oil

Either would be fine. The marine will tolerate moisture intrusion a bit better, but i also like the slightly better cold flow of the 75w. I would just use Mobil1 75w-90 off the shelf at the local auto parts store for $10. Seeing as how our AWD systems are on-demand and not full time i...

    First Oil Change surprise!

It appears misinformation is rampant on this topic as evidenced by some of the posts. Hopefully i can clear some of it up. First, the owners manual Oil Recommendations are simply an SAE grade ( 5w-20 ), an API service designation ( SM ), and an ILSAC designation ( GF-4/GF-5 ). There is no...

    Fuel milage information

if you want instantaneous mpg readings you'll probably need to get a scangauge. Pricey, but it'll be able to do a lot more than just mpg readings and is a worthwhile investment. There's a thread on the forums about it and helpful codes specific to the CX-9 that will make life easier for you...

    Removing rotors on 2008 CX-9

+1, it's called an impact driver and works wonders for stuck screws. I took those screws off the first time i rotated my tires just so they won't get rusted in place.

2010 - Changed oil, only 3 quarts came out.

on my last road trip, about 1500 miles, mostly freeway with sustained speeds rarely dropping below 75mph my CX-9 burned about 1qt of oil. so i think that your consumption would seem pretty normal.

    Instrument cluster programming

Total BS. It's the responsibility of the stealer who installed the new cluster to program the correct mileage or they are legally liable for committing odometer fraud. If they cannot reprogram it, then they at the very least need to provide you with a statement that the odometer was lawfully...

    Transmission fluid change "How To"

a 12pk of mobil jws3309 is ~$62 on amazon today. also, you may want to consider Valvoline maxlife which is jws3309/T-IV compliant and also a synthetic fluid for about a dollar a qt more. i'm planning on switching to the valvoline once my warranty is up.
