    Protege High Mileage Club

2002 BJII J48 Astina 1.8 Manual (Low spec Australian P5 with FP engine). 240xxxkm = 149xxxmiles. Bought new by me in December 2002 at 55km. Is there a one owner since new category? Replaced :intake manifold after No 4 cylinder ate a VICS screw clutch (replaced with OEM under warranty) creaky...

    BC coilover install pics review

Update on my kit: Done 40,000km (~25,000miles) now. At 34,000km, I found the front right endlink tab had a failed weld. There was no obvious distortion and the other 3 welds were fine. The replacement part has more welding in that area and looks a bit stronger. While waiting for the front...

    Whistling Sound?

Try a search on it. Several possibilities. My car started doing it and then ate a VICS screw. Whistle must have been the airflow past the screw backing out. My vehicle is a 1.8 and was NOT part of the recall either.

    BC coilover install pics review

Mine have now done about 26,000km (16,000miles). The only noise is an occaisional "twang". I'm hoping it's just stones getting stuck in the spring. The bottom coils are getting chewed up from stones and rusting a bit. I wish I had got coil wrap. I recently adjusted the bottom mount for minimum...

    Emanage Library

EM ultimate can handle waste spark. Well on mine anyway. But the options are all software, with limited engine types and sensors available. I have an OBDI PCM, which can take all sorts of messing around, and a different crank sensor to the North American spec, so I use the BP-ZE settings for my...

The marks on mine did not correspond exactly to degrees. Maybe try roughing it in at 1 mark per degree, then get the alignment shop to take it from there.

Progress update with some pretty pictures.

It's not that hard to figure out the link. Or just use google. And the swap looks great, but probably not legal here:(

Twiggy Sticks Install, tuning and results thread

I set mine halfway between NA and FI for a while to calm it down for a while (Closed up the overlap 2 or 3 degrees each cam iirc). The ignition timing had to be advanced a fair bit to get most of the bottom end back, but I never had sudden power surges like yours, just mildly annoying...

    Squeak Squeak; Help :(

Oldish thread, but for those searching: Mine gets a squeek from the piston that moves the lever thingy on the gearbox. Starts to get stiff and noisy every few thousand kms. LPS2 or similar lube fixes it for a while. Just pull back the rubber boot and spray it in there.

    New BC Suspension Install

Didn't the old BC stuff (VH series I think) have red parts instead of the new gold?

    New BC Suspension Install

When checking things over I found the spring seemed about 2mm shorter than when first installed (216 v 218mm). So I released the springs and reset the preload to approx 3mm(I found it difficult to get more accurate than +-1mm), just to make sure all was ok (My stock rear springs had very little...

    New BC Suspension Install

Since this is such an informative thread, I'll add a bit too. I've seen several complaints of noise with these, but the only noise mine have made so far in 5,000km is a few "twangs" after adjusting the spring preload and some creaking/cracking sounds from the front left after an alignment. I...

Mine are in. Thanks, Ken. Done a few hundred kms and they feel great! No more wallowing around. Surprisingly comfortable and quiet too. No clunks/squeeks yet. No trouble with swaybay clearance. I just mounted the sealtbelt guides directly on top of the STB mount, no drilling etc required, so no...
