No need to remove the axles, you need to disconnect the drive shaft, pull the bushings out and press the new ones in. There is not a lot of space to work with
It seems these transfer cases are not meant to last more than 90k miles. I had mine replaced at 90k. The car is at103k now. Will be replacing the fluid come springtime.

The lower control arms in my 08 have been changed once already by the dealership. It seems it a bad dust boot design for the ball joint letting the salt in and corroding it. Since my warranty is running out. I might change them in the future with MOOG or ACDELCO ones.

Fluid changes on the PTO will extend the life of it. A 30k miles interval seems to be a good number for the PTO and 60 for the diff.

For those close to Danbury CT, colonial mazda offers a transfer case fluid change. Just had my transfer case replaced under warranty at 95k there. Colonial Mazda service dept actually recommends the transfer case fluid change as part of maintenance.
