    Cracked exhaust manifold

I used the $200 Ilovetacotaco mani from ebay. It worked great at first (except that it got super hot and heatsoaked my engine bay very quickly) It lasted about 1 year. I got lucky and found someone here selling a Steedspeed T2 they never installed (and ceramic coated as a bonus). It's...

    Tooth Pic Motors?

As with just about any motor out there; if you dramatically increase the air and fuel without upgrading to forged internals, you take the chance of the rods and/or pistons falling short of holding up under the increased load. You can safely up the boost to 9psi (or controversially; 10psi), and...

You got the car a few weeks ago, and already you got a header and a cat-back?! (eek2) Sounds like you got the "fever".... ....and welcome to the board!

Losing my mind with this car!

Funny thing is; in the end it'll prolly be something obvious and simple. ...you try tightening the negative battery terminal yet?

Losing my mind with this car!

When you rebuilt the head, did you have it machined before installing valves, seals, retainers and springs? The reason I keep referring to the head is Im having some similar issues with my MSP. I know I have 2 cylinders (2 and 4)with leaky intake valves. My car smokes on start up...sometimes...

Losing my mind with this car!

Has the motor in your car ever been rebuilt? I know that on the FS-DE heads, the valve seals start going out at around 150k miles. And that could cause issues at specific RPM's (when enough fuel goes into the combustion chamber, the blow-by makes its way into the intake and mixes extra exhaust...

Losing my mind with this car!

NGK PFR5G-11 and most of the other plugs for the FSDE are pre gapped at .044". I have an MSP and I ran the NGK PFR5G-11 at one point. My car ran pretty bad with them. I did a little researching, and found that the FS-DET is supposed to have a .028" - .032". I regapped the plugs it ran great. I...

Losing my mind with this car!

If the only thing you didn't change back was the old plugs, perhaps that's your problem. If the plugs aren't gapped correctly, it makes a huge difference with these FSDE's. Or maybe since the 1.8 coils are not oem, then you need to gap the plugs to go with the 1.8 specs and not the original 2.0...

    New MSP owner here..

I hope all goes well with your project. Not only are these cars rare, but they handle like a dream when they work right. I hate to think of any MSP that's designated as a "grocery getter".

    New Austin meet...

I'm the Special Operations Manager at a Japanese restaurant called "Michi Ramen". Because of the owner and I's interest in cars (obsession is more like it), we decided to host a car meet on the 3rd Monday of each month. The meet stars at 6pm and will go until 9 or 10pm. Everyone is invited...

Post your relocated MAF/VTA BOV set up

I have a Greddy FV on my hot pipe (has at least 1" port) and I still have the turkey. From my experience, the difference between turkey and no turkey mostly falls on the BOV. The HKS SSQV seems to be the best BOV to have if you don't want the turkey (one of the few that is self adjusting). Ive...
