being that alex at stratified tuning is a professional tuner, im going to trust what he says when he says that "on stock turbo you wont be flowing enough to have the need for a front mount and would benefit more from a top mount".
if you run a sri and tip with out a tune you may throw a cel for a "running rich" code. I know that sounds funny but i work at the dealer and we had a speed6 recently come in with that code and he had a sri and tip and what was happening was the ecu was over compensating for the mods and giving...
if anything id recommend investing in a aftermarket top mount with a thinker core. I have had a buddy put a better top mount on both his ms6 and ms3 and the tuner said that they were so efficient there was no need for a front mount.
my first 3 mods were the same and everything was ok, however i wouldnt recommend going any further without the fuel pump internals. As for right now your ECU will compensate enough to make you run safely. have fun!
is the smoke a more white/blue-ish tint or is it a darker shade of grey/black? I work at the dealership and our "bad turbo" cars have the white smoke at idle, but if the smoke is only on revs and is more black then i would have to say your running a little rich.
HEY CGHMS3, i see that people have answered your questions and i thought id add my $.02. My buddy and i both have speed3's and he also had a speed6 before this and we had both done the ptp fuel pump internals once we had simple bold ons and we were happy with them. also if you were to call cobb...
