Congratulations on your '14 6 touring with tech! I myself have a '14 GT 6, it has the plate bracket you are referring to in the trunk. By no means is it big or goofy looking.

The black looks way better than the white. As for the plate bracket that is the standard US bracket. The big one hornsfan is referring to is for European cars.

I have a soul red 6 and have staired it down multiple times in various angles (it's kind of hard not to). I have not noticed any difference between the bumpers and the sheet metal. Maybe I just got a good one who knows.

I'm personally not a fan of the way those look. I do however like the door sills and will be picking some up for mine.
