You have to install the hood bumper and front fenders as they are all different from the normal Mazda 3 versions.

That is definitely where the airbag is located. Sounds like your friends head caused those engineered tear lines for the airbag to go ahead and open up.

I didnt think the ebrake seal came with the rebuild kit. Do you have a part number or something so I can find it?
