    2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege - Clean!

It's been a few years since I've been active here, and I'm sad to say goodbye to an old friend I've had since 2007, but it's time to part ways! Vital info: Year: 2003.5 Color: Laser Blue Mileage: 127,000 mi Interior condition: 8/10 Exterior condition: 8/10 Location: Savage, MN (SW of...

What have you done to your MSP today?

You're lucky you didn't blow the welds on your intake manifold! Now you and the mad scientist gotta replace those piston rings you fried...

99 Mazda Protege runs awful now

Yeah, you're right. It looks like I either mistyped or misremembered in my previous post!

What have you done to your MSP today?

Interesting... I had always heard good things about the Forge WGA. Might be time to ditch it for something else.

What have you done to your MSP today?

Just curious which WGA you're running. I have a 7psi Forge WGA, and I've been having a heck of a time getting a boost controller to hold 12ish psi without spiking when I goose it in 2nd gear. Thinking about just breaking down and getting a different WGA. Originally had a AEM Truboost, and now...

99 Mazda Protege runs awful now

So just to clarify, you pulled the boots off of the spark plugs, or the coil? And when you say, one made the engine die, and the other did not, are you talking about two wires from the same coil pack?

Which engine do you have? Unless I'm remembering totally wrong, you should have 2 coil packs: one that drives cylinder #1 and #3, and the other for #2 and #4. Sounds to me like the coil pack for #2,#4 might have been on its way out. If it still idles, then while it is running try pulling the...

Car doesn't want to idle after new timing belt

First thing I'd do would be pop the timing cover off and just triple check that you're not off by a tooth. That's about the only thing that would be directly related to a timing belt replacement. Next thing would probably be to look for a vacuum leak. If it's big enough to cause the car to...

My new MSP is in bad need of help. Advice needed

Before you write the engine off as needing a replacement, I'd look at fixing up the accessories where you can. (Unless the compression is shot, or it's got signs of rod knock, in which case... yeah) For one, that duct taped IC pipe is probably a giant vac and boost leak. That right there will...

ABS control module - no continuity to ground

I verified that the ground pin in the wiring harness has no continuity to ground, independently of anything going on with the control module, so I feel pretty confident that a damaged ground wire/connection is the primary culprit at this point. Didn't get a chance to touch it this weekend though.

Anyone deal with a DTC P0713 code

According to the service manual, the test for proper transmission fluid sensor function is to measure the resistance across two of the pins at various temperatures. See the attached image file:

ABS control module - no continuity to ground

Bump! If nobody has any suggestions, I'll probably just find a convenient spot to splice a new ground into the ABS wiring harness. Ain't nobody got time for trying to tracking down a single bad wire to who knows where. (dunno)
