AA/CarPlay USB Hub Aux Console questions

I ordered one off eBay in January and went through the whole FW upgrade from ver. 59 to ver. 74 before plugging in the module. All worked like a charm. Paid $80 for the hub with cables. Honestly, I picked the cheapest one I saw. Once I got it I disassembled it and looked over the circuit. As...

    CX-9 Power Liftgate won't open

Just to add another thanks for this thread. Picked up our 16 cx9 from the body shop and the tailgate also didn't open. Fuse was good, pulled the negative terminal and it resolved the problem.

Mazda Connect Firmware 74.00.230A (now .324A)

I am assuming most people upgrading to 70+ is adding the CP/AA media hub. But is there any issue with upgrading just the firmware and not installing a new media hub till some time later?

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Cost me about $3k in the end. I did read about others being covered out of warranty, but I wasn't given a reason. The dealer did such a lousy job on the warranty claim that it was initially denied and they had no idea why either. Had to talk to Mazda directly and their customer rep was much more...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

My 2016 CX-9 had 62500 miles when I discovered the coolant leak. Check engine light and high coolant temp warnings. Had to work with Mazda customer support directly because the dealer couldn't file a warranty properly. Mazda covered half the cost of a new engine. The date code on my new engine...

    2016 CX-9 jacking points?

Thanks, that clears things up. Here is a quick summary in case links break in the future: So the front center jack point is the dimpled plate just behind the plastic engine tray. The rear center jack point is a tab that sticks out from the cross member of a fwd or part of the rear diff on awd.

    '16 CX-9 Remote Start?

The instructions are at http://fortin.ca/en/vehicles/mazda/cx-9/ Select the year and look for the instructions for a standalone install with harness. Standalone means you use the EVO-ALL by itself without any other aftermarket alarms. Look for videos by Fortin on YouTube as well. There is one...

    '16 CX-9 Remote Start?

Funny thing is, I have key takeover on my GTI with EVO-ALL, but I keep pressing the brake when I get in the car from years of habit. So in the end I have to restart the car most of the time and it takes an effort to use the feature.

    '16 CX-9 Remote Start?

Functionality aside, Mazda does have their smart phone remote start. So you might be asking for an upgrade of that system instead of a new one? Let's be fair, Fortin does not recommend end user installs. Their site, instructions and programming dongles are targeted at install shops. I feel the...

    '16 CX-9 Remote Start?

My biggest issue was harness wiring where my taps were not making good contact. Otherwise it was time consuming but not hard.

    '16 CX-9 Remote Start?

The only thing I removed was the under side of the steering column cover. Two screws keep that cover secure. I installed the RF kit antenna behind the rearview mirror. I needed to remove the smart sensor covers for that but it is pretty easy.

Where did you install the switch and how did you run the wire into the cabin?

    '16 CX-9 Remote Start?

The normal usecase for a remote start is that the car is locked and unattended. But the remote start has the unintended consequence that enables someone to start the car without seeing if it is safe to do so. The switch locks out the remote start when there is a risk of injury. If I am working...
