Hey guys I got another question, I am going to get a short throw shifter installed this winter and I need to know what kind of one I should get. I have a 02 LX sedan 5 speed. I just need to know what has been workin the best for everyone. Also if anyone is on here from the Omaha area, let me know. It seems no one around here is into the Protege. They are all CIVIC ZOMBIES, poor guys. What a pity

Check out B&M, TWM and Kartboy, I know they all make 3rd gen short shifters, and Pacesetter makes one for older generations. I personally have the B&M and love it, although it still needs a little breaking in.

yes it can, tho its technically not a short shifter, its just "shorter" as it does not reduce the throw (except for the reduced hieght.) Also it has a different diameter., so the stock knob wont work.
You can just remove the extention like one member did (though you cannot use threaded knobs.

Just put the MP3 shifter in today and added a MazdaSpeed Sparco shift knob. It looks very nice.
