First post, yeehaw (no I am not a cowboy). Anyway, no questions just introducing myself ya'll. I just bought a 2003 Protege ES and love it. Looking for any advice on first mods to make etc.

Also curious how much money everyone has in their protege's as far as mods.

I am new to the seen of Protege's, but not imports. Please feel free to e-mail me with sound and wiring questions. I am in college, money is tight, but you just can't let a car sit now can you?

first mods to make? I'd say that's entirely up to you and how you want to handle the car.

i have stopped counting the receipts on my car. it depresses the rational side of my brain.

there are tons of good first mods depending on whats important to you. looks? video/audio? performance? what aspect of your car do you really want to enhance?

You know, by know that anwser is getting quite annoying. I have modded a car before and I know all about my style and what I want to do. I know what events I am going to and which ones I have a good shot a winning and which ones have girls that are worth having a conversation with. So now for try number two

Best first cosmetic mod: Window tints or body kit
Best first performance mod: Air intake or aftermarket exhaust
Best first audio mod: (depends on current setup) I would more than likely say the fron components...

Then why are you asking us about what mods to do? Even if that answer is getting "quite annoying", it's the truth. Every car here is different because people have different views of what they want the outcome to be. Although, since you've modded a car before, you know this already

Best first cosmetic mod: If you want tint, get tint. If you want to get more body style, get a kit. If you want to look stealthy, do an interior mod or a subtle exterior mod.
Best first performance mod: For what? Staying N/A? Preparing for turbo? Just to add more sound? Better gas milage? heh.
Best first Audio Mod: Yet again, it depends. Do you want more bass? Do you want to prep for hearing more highs? Screens? Bling?

And it looks as if you've already started your own ideas. You'll need a bit more than black headlights for a "show car", though.
