When this new Saturn Sky comes out spring next year, Miata will be in deep trouble

I love the look of the Sky, but unfortunately, it's supposed to be the "cushy" version of the solstice. I dunno how nice it'll drive for the enthusiast nuts.

I bet it'll be more along the line of the Mercury Capri attempt, but slightly better.. At least this one i RWD... ;)

It remains to be seen and felt/experienced. I'm sure a lot of aftermarket performance parts to improve the car will be available.

I wonder how Mazda is going to react when Sky comes out, they might be forced to restyle the exterior design of the miata completely

I like the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice. I would think Mazda will have the Mazdaspeed really. Not ony Mazda but Honda will have to worry about the Sky with the turbo 2.0L Ecotec as well.

Whats Ford's answer?

i am not disappointed per se, it looks nice, i just like the solstice better. when i said 'nasty' i was talking about that redesigned miata up there. i was not a fan of the ibuki concept car and was hoping against hope they were going that duirection...

Whats Ford's answer?

they will probably sell enough mustang convertibles at a bottom feeder price to not even make it an issue.

I think the Miata and S2k will be fine. American roadsters don't do well. they may look nice but it will still be unreliable and I doubt they will sell to many of them. My guess is we see the Sky and the Pontiac thing for a few years and they go away. Look at saturns other sports car the redline, it is faster than alot of other cars on the road and has a lot of after market parts but it dosn't sell to well because saturn is known to make problematic cheap cars rather than sports cars. People in general know that sports cars arnt just made but they come from a car company with a racing and sporting background such as Mazda, Ford and Honda and some others.

My guess is sence all of these car companies are trying to tap into the sports car catigory it is a last grasp to stay in the autimotive race and it is to little to late. I think alot of these car companies are going to fall here in the next 5 or 10 years.

the Miata has absolutely nothing to worry about.

case in point: the Toyota MR2 Sypder. it had better numbers but in every test the miata always came out on top and we know where the MR2 is lieing now...

Well, the new Saturn and Pontiac look very much based on GM's Opel Roadster..or is that just me?

Yeah, they are basically the same car. Just like how the Pontiac G6/Saturn Aura twins are derived from the Opel Vestra (sp?)

I think Mazda will more than likely do some bit of restyling on the front of the new MX-5; if not before the new model is released (kinda late now though), then for 2007.

haha! I actually like the M2's. I drove my friends and I couldn't believe how it felt like a full sized car.

*I like your collection of cars by the way.... You need a TII FC though. :)
