PHRiSCo

Hey Guys and Gals,

I saw an ad in Import Tuner or something a few months back for Greddy, and it said Triple Tube Strut bars were coming soon for the Protege, well I've called them and asked them about it and they said they didn't know if they would actually have a production version but they did prototype one already.

So I want to start this petitition so they will support the protege family and I can buy one!

Please cut and paste the list and add your name, lets get this product rolling!

Has Greddy shown any interest yet into making this strut bar? I would like to get one sometime soon. I would rather not have to resort to buying that bar from CP Racing after hearing about all the problems some out users have had with delays in shipping and what not.

Hello all you fellow Protégé owners. This message is to introduce a few products that a friend and myself are developing. We have noticed that the interest in a triple tube design (tri-point) front strut bar has grown. To the best of our knowledge, there is only one other tri-point bar made for the Protégé and has not received very much positive feed back, especially in regards to the design, finishing, and company service. We would like to gauge some interest and get some feedback from the Protégé community and finalize the designs of our front and rear strut bars, and make them available for other to enjoy.

At he moment, we have a prototype made for the front and it is being tested on a daily driven Protégé, and will soon be put under strenuous testing on an autocross track. The bar design ensures it will fit all Protégé sedan models 01-03 and Protégé 5 models 02-03, including the MP3 and the Mazdaspeed models. No cutting or drilling of the existing car components, other than cars equipped with the cruise control. Please note that some components may be required to be relocated only, and will come with all required hardware and instructions. The bar will be fabricated from rectangular and square tubing, with CNC cut strut plates (not punched out), to ensure smooth edges and proper fit. All bars will be individually test fitted prior to painting and finishing. Our bar will also replace part of the stock battery tie down, still holding the battery securely in its’ original location. The bar is slightly heavier than the average bar, but this is due to the amount of materials used, and the thickness of the materials used for its construction. We have designed it to ensure the bar is as stiff as possible, and flex is limited.

Also currently under construction are two different rear strut bars for the Protégé 5 years 02-03. We have an option of two bars that will fit within the rear cargo area, directly behind the rear seats and located just below the removable hatch cover. One bar will be a fixed design, and the other will allow for the removal of the bar from within the cargo area using basic tools, to allow the cargo space to remain as stock as possible. The prototype of the non-removable bar will be completed by the end of next week and will also undergo testing on the autocross track. The removable bar will allow the owner of the car to utilize the entire trunk space just as they would without the bar. Both of the bars when installed are out of the way and will allow full use of the cargo area with the rear seats in the upright position. Construction of the rear bar strut plates are similar to the front and the tube will be . It will also include all required hardware.

Please view the picture below. It is the first prototype of our front bar, and will undergo testing and further modifications soon. A picture of t he rear bar will follow soon. Stay tuned.

Scott, and Jacob.

I see that you metion GT Spec in your sig. How good is their front strut bar? I wanted to buy it, but held out for something a little more "flashier" under the hood and a bit stronger. Thats why I waited to see if anything with the CP Racing one would come about.

We took this opportunity to post our design under the basis that people were discussing tri-point bars. Our design shares characteristics of other types of tri-point bars that have been developed for Acura, Corvette, Dodge, and other car manufacturers. Tri-point means to pick up three mounting points on a car. If the firewall bar does not go back directly to the strut plate, its’ load must be supported by the main bar itself. Our main bar sits level on a horizontal plane with the strut plates and has sufficient surface contact with the plates to ensure it can take the extra forces being applied.

We have only done test fits of the bar on 01 sedans and 02 P5’s. They are the only years of cars that we have access to at the moment. If someone can confirm if Protégé models for the years 1999-2000 all share frame structure under the hood as the 2001-2003 models, we will arrange a car to do a test fit.

We do have a few more designs being worked on, for the front and some more for the rear of the Protégé.

I suppose you could always go to www.cpracing.ca (http://www.cpracing.ca) and then look under products for the Mazda. Towards the bottom of the list, the triple tube bar is listed for the 1999-2000.5 Protege/Protege 5/Mazdaspeed. From the picture you posted and the one on their website, they appear to be the same. So I see why there shouldn't be any problems with fitment.

Plus, if I remember correctly, suspension parts are interchangable between our model Proteges, right.

Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Thats partly my fault. I don't mean to thread jack, but I was just relaying some good news. I still would like to see this Greddy Triple Tube strut bar get done, but these aren't available yet for the 99-00 sedan. All you 01+ Proteges will get yours first before me (2000). So thats why I was just trying to get something started up with CP until Greddy gets our 2000 Protege bars done.

My bad!! Don't flame me...

the welds are fine... and the cuts arent bad at all, i mean its not robotic but im not hatting on it ethier. If no ones interested in it i wont waste my time. Natey says he loves that bar... and the improvement it made to his car so im not sure what to say...

as long as i have a triple strut bar i dont mind.....it all does the same i wouldnt mind getting the CP one, or greddy, or mazdacub's. its all the same to me. greddy has the best name out of those so i would choose theirs, but they dont have it

I'd hold off on the gb until mazdaclub has a pic of his finished product.

I would get in on the CP GB. Im not really all that picky when it comes to Strut bars. As long as it does what it is supposed to do and the price for it is relatively cheap, then I have no problem. Plus, depending on when the Greddy bar is released and when Mazdaclub finishes the bars for the 99-00 models, this CP strut bar is convienent. Its readily available and does the same thing as the Greddy and Mazdaclub bars. If Senor does this GB, Im in!!

So I started this thread a long time ago wishing i could get a Greddy Strut Bar.

I went ahead and purchased CP Racings front and rear strut bars.

If Greddy doesn't want our business, to bad for them.

I suggest going GT Spec or CP Racing.

Did anyone even forward this list or any other communication to GReddy? I doubt they're going to troll every forum looking for "market opportunities"...

tripple tube, like the one that goes to the firewall and make a triangle, not tripple wall. I think thats what they meant

This thread needs to die in hindsight. Greddy won't make triangulated strut bars (they don't make them for any make or model) for the Protege. I think the cornfusion started in the title and I fell along with it.

CP, DC?, and maybe vaporware from Mazdacub are the only options.
