Carbotech Bobcats front and rear. Kind of spendy, but well worth it! They were about $218 direct from Carbotech.

I got my pads from mazda, i had some problems finding aftermarket pads. I do know that KVR makes pads for our cars, they just didn't have them in stock when I needed them, but I did get the rotors from them I got the gas slotted. Also if you want to you can go to www.corksport.com and they have rotors and pads for our car. The only reason I didn't get the pads from them was because i wanted ceramic pads and they only have semi metallic pads. So you have a few options, just make sure you specify that it is for the mazdaspeed or they may send you stock protege pads.

I was in a jam right before a track event, and needed to get some replacement pads in case I killed mine at the track event. The only thing I could get was the KVR MSP pads!!! DON'T BUY THEM!!! These pads are not the same size as the OEM MSP pads. When you put them up against each other the KVR pad is about 5mm narrower.
I ran the Carbotech XP9's and these produced an enormous amount of brake dust. These pads were toast after only 8000km (5000mi) of driving. These pads had tremendous bite, but so much so that the rotors and pads wore out in a short period of time. I should note that when these pads went on the car the rotors were not turned or replaced due to lack of time; however, they did have lots of life left in them and I never got any squeeling. These pads were also slightly smaller than the OEM pads, but again were slightly narrower.
I've gone with stock pads ever since, best bang for the buck if yo're looking for a pad that's actually as big as OEM. Carbotech will stop you faster, but will also kill your rotors!

no less than stock pads? really?
i thought the whole point of getting ceramic was for their "zero dust" property.

I say just go with the stock pads, you can get then from mazda for 78 bucks, and I feel they are the best pad for the car.

Axxis Metal Masters are better.....IMHO
exact same size as stock, but they feel stronger and with less dust.

yes they are.
on a side note.........cool thing i noticed that after driving for a while i can touch my rotors now (i have drilled/slotted Rotorworks).....where on the stock rotors i would burn myself.
they run WAAAAY cooler than stockers.

Shoot...I just run cheap aftermarket pads from Auto Zone. 21 front, 14 rear. They last as long as stock, with more dust (to be honest), but I get the lifetime warranty and will just take them in for new ones for the rest of the life of my car. So I get a lifetime of brake pads for $35.
And as a professional driver, I can honestly say that they are no worse than stock, no difference at all.
