i have a 2005 2.3l engine in my 3. does anyone know if i have the spin-off or cartridge? and is there a way to check without removing the filter? thanks!

You should be able to tell just by looking. The spin of looks just like all of the others.
The filter one is mostly cast(metal) with only a small plastic bottom that screws off to remove the filter element.

It should be the cartridge filter.

do i need to jack the car up and remove the skid plate to see the filter? or can i see it from the top?

nvm figured out that problem. also i noticed that valvoline used a VO54 filter when i took my car in any idea if that is a normal spin-off or what?
