Distinct style and same capacity as the sedan
The Sport Hatch is a version of the familiar Saab 9-3. In addition to the new body style, there will also be other new and interesting features that have been added to the car.
The length of the [Saab 9-3] relative measures 419 (cm? mm?). It is a very small interior volume comparatively and even slightly smaller than this wagon.
For a comparison, this car is most like that of the Alfa Romeo Sport Wagon or Audi A4, where the marque uses a familiar body to obtain more space; also like the Ford Mondeo or Opel Vectra. With the seats lowered, the volume increases to 1,273 (again not sure if cm or mm).
This wagon has some characteristics that make it more functional than the sedan form, like hidden storage. The floor of the trunk is a tray that can be split with a divider, and underneath that is additional storage. Saab calls this feature “TwinFloor”.
It can either come with a spare tire or without one; in that case it will have a subwoofer there.
The body has some interesting characteristics. It is the first Saab, and in fact one of the very few cars overall that have a vertical drag coefficient of virtually 0.0 on both axles. This means that the car does not lose contact with the ground due to the effect of air resistance at high speeds. For some functions of the driver the car utilizes diodes instead of light bulbs.
The Sport Hatch is being released with a six-cylinder gasoline engine with a turbocharger. The engine is aluminum with 2.8L displacement, four valves per cylinder, variable distribution, and a double turbo. It will have 250 Hp and will be sold only as an Aero line.
The platform is virtually identical to the sedan, with the small differences being modifications to the weight and torsional rigidity. The rigidity is less than that of the sedan, but this is normal due to the large opening in the back.
Like in the sedan, the rear suspension is designed so that it can react with adjusting alignment of the wheels in response to lateral stresses. With the entry of the Sport Hatch, a new level of stability options have been presented to the range, with special settings to go up inclines and programming to diminish issues that could normally cause.
