details? dud you go with stock compresssion and where did you get your block from?

speed1016
02-09-2005, 10:03 PM
no not stock compression. I know I shouldnt have but I went through racingmazda. believe me it took forever! But they did pay for my storage fee and through in a walbro fuel pump for the long wait. the compression is 9.0:1

Will the 0.1 difference in static compression really allow for much more boost? Or was it determined by your choice of dome shape? What are your goals with it (boost, hp, tq, redline, etc.)?

Im wanting to be at 10 psi daily with around 215 whp and 215 torque reliable. Hopfully this block will be alot better than the stock.

That's exactly what I'd like to have. Those are great numbers for street use. It's good that you kept the compression up a little so you have good low end power and quick spool. With that setup you don't have to woirry about getting a different turbo, either. The T25 will push that with no problem.

So when's it going in the car? Can't wait to see the results! BTW, what rods/slugs did you put in ?

oh ya check out their website racingmazda.com I dont recommend them only because the time I had to wait. But the block is blue printed. Oh and the next block wont take nearly as long because they have everything ready to be built.

Dude I know you dont see me as much around here but I could of told you RM takes a long ass time. I mean Ric knows his stuff but hes all Miata guy. If I would of known I could of checked on your block more frequently and tried to speed it up since I live in SA. OH and thinking back, last time I was at Racingmaza was about Octoberish since I sold him my Probe and I remember them talking about your block. Nothing bad but damn thinking about it, that was a long time ago. Sorry you had to wait that long but hopefully it will work out great for you. How much did that set you back if I may ask?

I went to their site and it says that the Stage 1 stock rebuild supports 300hp. How is that possible if they are using stock rods and pistons? Is there something I'm missing or is this just BS?

I was wondering the same thing. Even when it says when properly tune Im thinking yeah right.

300bhp yes, but not 300whp.

I believe RM uses Wiseco pistons, maybe JE... its on the site.

Glad to see the Speed is getting a new heart.

If anyone is willing to help out next weekend that will be great. All my help is out of town until the end of the month because of JRTC (army training) just let me know. Free beer and pizza.

you could have gotten this power out of a stock block... unless u plan on upping it later.
