I'd like to get a CAI but I don't want the growl that usually comes with it. Anyone have one that is fairly close to the stock sound?

they are all gonna have a growl, turning the radio up is about the only cure.
On a serious note, the ractive sris seem to be quieter then some of the cais ive heard, in fact, i think most people agree that short ram is quieter thacold air, i might have that backwards though

Ah man, I've asked this question a few times myself and that's about the closest I've had to an answer. :D
I too would like the advantages of an intake, but I'm 30ish and don't even want the notion of ricer/boy racer...I think the fartbox exhaust is what really cranks up the suck, though, as far as weedwhacker sounds go.

my SRI is pretty loud when on the throttle.....actually sounds pretty good. is very quiet when off throttle for cruising.

The closest you can get is by replacing the stock filter with a panel K&N filter and cut some plastic from the grill to allow more cold air to flow into the stock intake opening.

lol...I did that w/my first P5 (except I drilled monster holes in it), but I was so damned afraid of hydrolock from automatic, undercarriage carwashes that I've left the airbox alone on this one.
Truthfully I bought the AEM SRI and my car is not that loud. BTW I also have a full Greddy EVO 2 cat back exhaust. Trust me its not loud!!

My ears must suck, cause I don't even really think my CAI and Exhaust are loud. Unless I'm on the highway then I turn up the music. Had my car for more than 2 years and I still have not seen it from the outside while its on the move. Nor have I even heard my car while I'm not in it, sigh...must have the siblings take a video so I can see and hear myself.

(boom04) you use those?
those things scare me, i always think that soap is going to get in on my breaks or axle bearings and mess something up.. i'm a bit paranoid because it's happened to my friend before.

If you live in areas where they dump salt on the roads, it's a good to get your undercarriage washed once in a while to get rid of the salt to prevent rust.
I don't know what happened to your friend, but if it was THAT bad, I wouldn't drive in heavy rain as well. Yeah, one is soap and the other is water, but I don't think soap can do that much damage.

Yeah, I wash the undercarriage after winter trips to my folks (Illinois), or after driving downtown here after rain during high tide. Charleston streets flood w/salt water at times as it is at sea level.

I modified the stock intake so that it is like a SRI, but like other's have said, it is only noticeable under moderate acceleration. Also, I don't think the sound is obnoxious at all, it is a very clean, deep sound.

why is salt poured on the streets?
i'm pretty sure that's not done down here, so i'm assuming it has something to do with winter?

Otherwise the roads would taste bland.

salt + water = Salt water = lower freezing temperature for water = less ice spots = less accidents. I hope this all makes sense. lol

I'd rather drive on ice than have salt splattered all over my car :'(

I understand your point :) It just worries me that I have to drive in "salty" conditions for 5 months out of the year...has to be bad for the paint (shrug)
