I final figured out how to use the "Philips Silver Vision" turning signal bulbs (which are single contact bulbs, when stock amber bulps are double contact) in our head lights...
Now the only lights that light up when the head lights are on, are the headlights and fogs... NO AMBER TURNING SIGNAL!!!
And... They only light up when i turn them on!!!
I'm so happy!!!

images and instructions soon...
WOW!! That's exactly what I had in mind!!!
What exactly is "Philips Siver Vision''? Please give details ASAP!
I've been wanting to do this for the longes time (3 months)
GREAT POST!
Never mind. I just found out that they are light bulbs...
How hard was to replace them?

not hard at all... all u gotta do is FILE DOWN one of the little things on the side of the bulb base and put a peice of paper on one of the contacts in the harness...

its all about the hoopty-rigged budget modding! :)
Cool, thanks for the info. But how do I take the bulb out? It looks sealed to me...

I am just curious as to why you would not just replace the bulb with a hyper-white type and then when it comes on with the parking lights, it is white and not amber. Is it worth going through all that trouble just to not have the lights come on with the headlights/fogs?
I used a hyper white bulb replacement for the amber bulb. Works fine for me, but it does come on with the parking lights/headlights. But it is white...

i HAD the hyper white bulbs in and they didnt really match... but i honestly think it looks better without it on when the head/fog lights are on...
and...
the bulbs are easy to take out...

Easy? It looks like they are part of the whole head light assembly!
Can you please be more specific? Thanks.

ok.. i think you guys need to be more specific.. no one really understands what the hell is going on... you need to specify WHICH AMBER LIGHT you are talking about... the outer corner, or inner corner?? on the mp3 the outer corner has amber plastic.. so changing a bulb wont do shit.. but i know on the p5 it is clear... i also know that the headlight bulb, and the amber bulb on the inner corner of the mp3 lights are EASY to change... but the outer corner ones are a bit more difficult.. i actually havent changed them yet.. but they look like you do have to remove the assembly just to get to the bulb... anyway... now that i think about it this has nothing to do with you guys since your p5ers and the headlight assemblies are diff... so nevermind

Protege01MP3.... protege5s ONLY have 1 turn signal in the headlight assembly, we don't have that outer corner amber reflector thing.

yah.. i know the amber piece isnt there... but i thought there was still another bulb/turn signal in there?? so.. is it just.. like... there... just an open gap at the corner of the headlight? with no bulb or anything in it?

oh... hmm... well.. now im reconsidering the conversion/swap... i wanted p5 headlights... but that seems weird to me withought that extra bulb on the outside.... but you guys have your front bumper markers/lenses too... so thats probably why they didnt put them in there... I wish they made clears for the mp3... i thought the WW mp3 had some.. but no one could ever give me a straight answer on that one...

Wingswest protege has the MP3 headlights, but they took out the black trim and painted it chrome, and took out the orange sidereflector inside the housing. Seems easy enough.

gotcha... wasn't sure if they did it themselves or if they were aftermarket...
