View Full Version : OR: Possible sale/trade, my 2000 2.5RS for your P5

Hey, i have a 2000 Subaru 2.5RS coupe, about 45k, white. It has a 5 speed, factory leather interior, factory upgraded stereo with amp/sub, sunroof, Stromung cat-back, whiteline rear anti-sway bar and of course that wonderful all-wheel-drive.
I'm missing the 4-doors and hatchback of my previous car though and i think a Protege5 would be just the ticket for me. Anybody want to trade? Or does anyone have a Protege5 for sale in/near oregon or want to buy my scooby?
Oh, and a couple of those later shots are from when the car was lowered. The first one shows it at its current height. I got tired of the harsh ride and put the stock shocks back on, which raised it back up a bit. It still is actually pretty stiff for a factory setup, corners much flatter than any stock car i've driven. Well, that's partially due to the whiteline swaybar too i'm sure.

^^ those marks behind the fender well are just dirty crud, no big scratches or anything.

These look a little funny because of the flash i think. Anyway, the interior is kinda messy right now, lol. I need to wash the floor mats and vacuum in there, but you get the idea. Black leather, red stitching, perforated in strategic places. :)

Have you driven a P5 yet? I drove the 2.5RS and also owned a Legacy Limited. The only thing I could not stand is changing sparkplugs on that boxer engine.
Oh....and welcome to the boards.

Oh, a new post on this. I posted in the thread from back in Dec.
Do you know how a deal like this would go down? I mean, say I wanted to trade my P5 for your RS, I still have my car financed. How does all the paperwork get handled? Is your suby still financed?

Crap, did i already make a thread? I looked for one cuz i thought i might have but i couldn't find it. Sorry about that.
Yeah i've driven a couple P5's. I'm gonna miss the torque and the AWD of the scooby, but it'll be worth it overall for the 4 doors and the hatchback. I'd probably go for a subaru wagon but the ones i like are all just a bit too much money.
My car is totally paid for and i would not want to pick up anyones payments. I'm not positive how the paperwork would be done but i think what might happen is whoever i trade would have to pay off their car (may have to take another loan to do this i guess, not sure how you'd handle that). Then we could write up a bill of sale saying that we are trading cars, or we could each sell eachother our car for the same price. Like say for example I sell you my car for $12k and you sell me yours for $12k and we don't even have to exchange any money. Assuming we agree that the cars are of equal value. If they're not, there may be a small differential in prices and a little money would change hands.
That's my thoughts on it anyway. I'm open to suggestions.

Man that sounds awesome, you're in Ann Arbor though? That's Michigan right? That is a loooong drive! lol
I do have a bunch more pictures, and can take more, but i will have to wait until i get home to post them.
I didn't know there was a 2003.5 model, do you mean 2002.5?

There were slight changes every half year. There's 2002, 2002.5, 2003, & 2003.5. There's a thread on the board somewhere that lists all of the differences.

Looks very nice Jon. Is it as hard to keep looking clean as everyone says? I've owned a red car and a white one... never black before.
Is the ipod wired in somehow? That's pretty cool if so, i've thought about trying to make a way to play mp3's in my car but i haven't seen a method that i'm convinced would be easy enough to find the songs i want while i'm driving. I'd probably be looking for a song and drive off the road, lol.
I should be home in an hour or so and able to put more pics of my car up.

How much would you sell it for? This is just a shot in the dark as it would be a bitch to bring across the border, but I have a friend who had been looking for one of these for YEARS!!!! Let me know (I'm off to do some research about bringing cars across the border ;) ).
Thanks.
PS Very nice looking car!! (cool)

I'm looking for somewhere in the $12-13k range, US dollars of course.

Thanks. Ya, the ipod is wired in behind the dash directly to the radio w/ a Monster 1/8" to RCA cable and a Belkin signal amplifier. So the ipod turns on when you turn the car on and has external power so that it will never run out of battery on road trips. It is a really clean install, as you can see.

So are you interested in a possible trade? I guess i have no plans for spring break, if you wanted to meet me halfway or something i could do a road trip and we could meet somewhere in the middle. Of course we'd have to both be certain we liked each others cars and wanted to trade. I guess it's a possibility.

After looking at the pics, I'm not sure that I'd want to do that. Don't get me wrong, your car is great and looks really nice, but I feel like i'd be downgrading by getting a car that is 3 years older and has almost 3 times the mileage.

I would trade you in a heartbeat, I've always loved that RS... but my P5 is a bit modded.. plus its an automatic... and I've grown an attatchment to it. Let me know if you're interested anyways. I'm guessing you're in Oregon by the title?

Jonlong, i don't blame you, no offense taken.
Chu, i'm not really interested in a modified car, unless it's minor, and i long ago made a solemn vow to myself to never own an automatic with fewer than 6 cylinders :)
Oh, and yeah i'm in oregon.

I have a feeling I'll be making good on that vow the day I step into whichever car comes next.

Hey i live in oregon, but i still owe some on it
Autolykos
02-09-2005, 01:27 AM
for people who are interested but still owe on their car. I would imagine that you could take out a new loan against the subie in order to pay off what you owe on the mazda. Does that make sense?

I still have the RS :)

Thats not what he means by "clean". He was referring to the car's overall condition.

no way on hell am I trading a 27k mile bone stock 2003.5 for some car that is about 5k miles from end of warranty. 15k from major maintenance. If I am not mistaken there is an issue with head gaskets for that model year.
Who doesn't vacuum a damn car out before posting pics?
Autolykos
05-21-2005, 08:27 PM
The head gasket on this one should be fine for quite a while. It got a new one about 10k ago when I had the engine out. For a while i was running a different block (2.2L) and a turbo. I got fed up with not having the right fuel system and engine management for the turbo, and since i couldn't afford to get them, I decided to ditch the turbo and that block and went back to stock.
