I've done some searching but did not really find much, per the uj.

What is the thread size on the kartboy lever and what shift knob options are there for it.

I do not really like the look of the kartboy knob. I am starting to think I will make a custom knob.

any help is appreciated

i got the sparco techno blue knob and it comes with these plastic caps that screw onto the thread of the shifter and then the knob slides over the plastic cap. This method sucks. The knob gets twisted and i'm constantly straightening it. You cannot tighten the knob with the screws in comes with because you will be going directly into the side of the thread of the shifter. Avoid anything that does not screw into the top of the thread of the short shifter itself.

if you do it right, those shift knobs work fine, you just find the plastic sleeve that just BARELY wont slip over the shifter, then you put it inside the knob, tighten the set screws down just enough to hold it in place, then push very hard and screw it onto the shifter, making sure it goes on straight, this "threads" the plastic sleeve, and acts just the same as if you had bought a pre-threaded knob, the set screws really weren't designed to hold the knob onto the shifter, their main purpose is to hold the sleeve INSIDE the shifter...

but from the small amount i've read, anything that threads onto the stock MSP/MP3 shifter will thread onto the kartboy as well...

ya, your doing it wrong, it is a stupid design and obviously flawed, but to make it work, stick the plastic sleeve inside the knob, then set the knob down on a flat surface, so the sleeve is at the bottom, then put the set screws in, tighten them just enough so they are holding the plastic sleeve in place, but not so much that the shifter wont be able to pass, then put pressure on top of the knob, and turn it, the threading from the shifter will create threading in the plastic sleeve, when you get to the top, it SHOULD hold tight, at this point you can tighten the set screws more if you'd like, and the plastic between them and the shifter will protect against any nasty marks the set screws alone may have made...

i've had quite a few knobs like this, the first couple didn't work for shit because i did the same exact thing you are doing, then i figured out how to make it work differently and i haven't had a problem since, but the best route to go is just getting a pre-threaded knob that will screw right on...

i got a damn expensive momo knob on mine w/ the screw method and holds fine, you just have to make sure all the screws go in evenly. mine hasn't slid and its been on for about 6 months...
