I'm selling my JIC exhaust for the P5, $400 + shipping. It was on my P5 for a total of two days, until my wife (who drives it more than I do) heard it, was too loud for her liking. I think I'm going with the Racing Beat instead.

It's in like new condition, just take a look at the pics. Comes with the silencer. I bought it from Spool shortly before they closed. In the interest of full disclosure, they didn't enclose 4 of the bolts so I bought my own (from the local hardware store) but of course promptly lost them after I removed the exhaust.

Box weighs 30 pounds, will be shipped via UPS ground (or local pick up if you're in the Seattle area). The lucky buyer can take advantage of a $2-off coupon from my local UPS Store! Paypal preferred. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks,
Matt

BREAKING NEWS -- Price is now $375 + shipping! It's all boxed & ready to go. And you can still save $2 on shipping with my UPS Store coupon! What a deal! (thumb)

I thought it was all good w/o the silencer. But, as it really isn't MY car... that's what my trusty old SAAB is for, it's loud as hell.

Have you put in the silencer? It calmed my wife down when I did. ;)

Bump for a nice set up.

Still have it.

It comes with the silencer and gasket that goes between the mid-section and canister section, but you'll need to pick up 4 bolts for it. Spool didn't send me the bolts so I just picked up some from Lowes but I've misplaced them.

It was on for two days, approximately 20 miles of driving.

Oh one more thing... you've probably read in other threads about the JIC exhaust that the muffler tip mounts pretty close to the bumper lip. I didn't have any melting problems, but then again I didn't drive much. I've heard of some people slightly bending the bracket nearest the tip to drop it down a bit.

In regards to the rubbing issue and the amount of time it's been used on the car, it looks here like you had it installed from march to at least june of last year, as I found this thread dated, where youre saying your exhaust is already rubbing too close for your liking.

http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?p=771992#post771992

Can you clarify as to how many miles are actually on the system?

Also, I know the JIC systems use spring loaded bolts for their flange connectors. Does it present a problem to use regular bolts when they should be spring loaded?

Do you have pictures of how you mounted the axle back section?
Did you end up getting different hangers for it?

* I apologize in advance if my info is incorrect*

No worries, I can see how my past threads would be confusing.

I bought the exhaust from Spool in Sept. 2003 here: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31479

Asked about the best way to get the car up into the air (stands vs. ramps) in Oct. 2003 here http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33702

Went with ramps and installed *just* the muffler section in Nov. 2003 to see how it looked as others had mentioned it sat close. Didn't drive around at all though, just took it off. Finally got around to trying to figure out how to drop it a bit lower, posted the question in Feb. 2004 here (the thread you mention): http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?p=771992. Didn't take any pics during the Nov. install, was too cold and wet and I was frustrated by how it seemed too high.

Didn't get any info on lower hanging, again posed the question in March 2004 here: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56553. Didn't buy the multi position hangers though, decided I should install the whole thing when I had time to see how it went.

Several months of distractions later, I finally installed the full system in July 2004. Didn't take any pics though. Drove it for about 20 miles over 2 days then took it off. Once it was fully on, it didn't sit as high as it did when I had just the muffler section on in Nov. 2003. Still pretty high, higher than something like the Racing Beat or others, but I didn't have any meling issues. Maybe because I didn't drive far?

As for the spring loaded bolts, that's a good question, Spool didn't mention anything when I asked them about bolts right after I bought the system from them. I used a regular bolt and it seemed ok, but if that's what JIC ships with their system then I would imagine that's what should be used. I'm a little peeved now that you mention it uses a special bolt.

Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to explain everything. I'm not trying rip anyone off. The system truly has about 20 miles on it over the course of 2 days in early July 2004. Being something of a good procrastinator and exceedingly busy, it took me a long time to finally install it. Now I'm just trying to sell it as I need the storage space and could use the money to buy some new tires.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

What I did to fix the exhaust tip touching the bumper:
Take your stock exhaust hanger aand cut off the middel flat rubber part, then stick one of this in..
http://www.homedepot.com/cmc_upload/HDUS/EN_US/asset/images/eplus/051655440093_4.jpg

As the nut is in the middel, wrap the hanger with heavy duty tapes couple times and you're good to go. Only downside is that it would be a biznatch to put your exhaust into the holes. This is what I did with mine, i'm not sure if it'll work everyone (It should), so try it see how it goes.

No thanks. While I want the Racing Beat, I'm wanting the money from this sale to get some tires first. But thanks for the offer!
