Fuck me....Son of a bitch. God damit....That should just about cover it. Today I was out with freinds the car started to buck.....I was fuck, not again...as I was pulling into the parking light the Check engine light came on....
I got the car home and pulled off the MAF sensor this time...guess what....There is water on the MAF and sitting in the buttom of the connector pipes....
I just had the damn thing replaced 3 weeks ago. That time they did it under warranty. (Because the car had sat for almost a day, so all the water that would have been aroudn the MAF was gone)
I don't think they will warrenty it this time.
Why am I having this problem. That damn filter is almost a foot off the ground. I guess it is time for RAM air, cause I can not afford to replace the MAF every 3 weeks....
I did not drive through any puddles or anything. We have had about 3-4 inches of snow, so the roads are slushy, but not like there are piles and piles of snow....
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? (dunno)

oh a side note...Will the MAF work normally after it has dried out?

yeah, let it dry out inside. where its nice and warm so it doesn't freeze.
PDHAudio83 ran a gallon of water or so through his when he almost hydro-locked his car. his worked fine after drying out.

I run my Injen as an SRI all winter, works great, keeps the filter clean and no problems with water.

Yup, just got it installed. It works fine now...Thanks everyone...Took it to autozone and had them clear the code, MAF/High/Low
Rocketspeed how do you covert to SRI? I have an ION CAI but the concept should be the same.
Or if anyone else has a how to or really just some pics are all I need.
Thanks

Take off bottom peice of intake and hook filter right up to your MAF and zip tie air temp sensor around filter. Thats what I do with my injen during the winter.

what about a bypass valve

Bypasss in intake is Not good on a turbo set up...

The filter did not get submerged it was just really wet, and dirty as shit...
I ended up taking a peice of 3 inch pipe, cut it about 4 inches long and then drilled the whole for the air temp sensor. So I got it all hooked up and it looks damn good IMO:)
I never would have thought that filter would get so wet and dirty sitting almost a foot+ off the ground with the splash shield in place. Oh well live and learn.

QuestionUse of AEM Bypass Valve on Forced Induction engines
AnswerAEM does not recommend the use of the bypass valve on engines equipped with forced induction (turbo or superchargers). Additionally, using nitrous oxide in a placement before the bypass valve is dangerous due to fuel contamination of the foam spring/filter as well as degradation of the integrity of the plastic due to the extremely cold temperature of the nitrous oxide. Nitrous can be used downstream of the bypass valve.
--Im not really sure why there not reccommended to use for FI but Aem and injen do not reccomend it and theres a few post with the real reason why its not good to use with turbos..

You can't use it on FI because the turbo holds the bypass valve open whenever it is in boost- it mimics the sucking type of action that you'd also experience if you were sucking in water, I think.

Huh...strange. I am always paranoid about this with my Injen...but whenever I check it it never looks soaked or dirty, and I haven't cleaned it in a year!!! Is there something drastically different from the ION CAI and Injen design that would make this happen?

I did not think so...Infact the rubber flange of the filter actually pops through the whole, so that gives you an idea of how high it sits up there....That filter it butted right up against the bottom of the engine bay....
