Does anyone feel like taking up the banner for petitioning one of the bigger companies (Greddy, HKS, Apexi) to make a turbo timer harness for our car? If we could get maybe at least fifty people signed up and prepayed, I imagine they might think about doing it. Harnesses can't be that difficult to manufacture, and it wouldn't be terribly difficult to get a group buy going for such an inexpensive product. What do you guys think?

its just 3 wires you have to tap in.
Get some tap/splice connectors and pliers...no soldering...took me 5 minutes to install it.
No need for harnesses and is a waste of money...my $0.02

Even so, one can't deny the cleanliness of a harness... =)

i can deny it. ge a universal harness and wire that up. then you can unplug it whenever you want.

agreed. Spend $1.45 and get a universal harness, wire it yourself.

Forgive my ignorance, but could someone enlighten me as to how one would wire up a universal harness?

okay, you know how you have the plug on the turbo timer, waiting for a mate. well the universal harness is this mate, but the other end is bare wire that you hardwire into the ignition wires/etc.
then you mate the two in holy matrimony and can divorce them whenever you wish.

Hm.. I guess I should have opted for the harness when I bought mine.

IMO opinion dont need to be clean because its just 3 wires and no oneis going to look under your steering wheel take out the panel and check it out...it can be clean if you do it right.

If you still have to splice the 3 wires from the universal harness into the ignition wires that's like more or less defeating the very purpose of a harness, am I right?

I dont know which harness is the universal but if its the on that comes with the turbo timer then its used to attach other harnesses on or to cut and splice.
HArnesses are a marketing/sales ploy. You are not wiring a AEM standalone, microtech or haltech, where you have a million differnt wires to tap into. ITs a way for manufatuers to make that extra dolar for 2 oe 3 18 gauge wires that they call a "harness." I know most RX-7, 240 and supra owners dont even bother paying the extra $60 or $80 that they want for a harness when its jsut 3 simple wires.
oh you also learn more by wiring it in yourself...i would have never knew what each one of those wires did nor where each wire in the ECU does. Infact i think its kind of fun when you have the acomplishment of installing and fabing up something yourselfs...even if it is something small like a turbo timer. You have to start somewhere. I started with my turbo timer Blits FATT and now im up to wiring Greddy emanage in.

You know, I'd be frekin happy if I had a switch holder for my damn Unichip buttons. Just having them hanging around is kinda ghetto. lol

you can still easily unplug it if needed?

Go buy a cheap soldering kit from radio shack. Learn to solder. It will come in handy if you plan on messing with today's cars. Buy a spool of wire and practice your technique. Always do clean work, run wires with tie straps neatly, and insulate properly.

When I had my unichip I ran the wires and hid the switches under the cupholders. It always freaked people out when I lifed up the cupholder to pull out the wires. I didn't really change them much so it worked out ok. Plus that way you dont have people saying oh what does this do? and flipping the switches lol

Yeah, no kidding. Mine come out where the e-brake is. Easy access for me to hit the switches and you can shove em back into the rubber area of the e-brake area, unnoticed. But I REALLY wished they would have just come out with a mounting bracket where all you have to do is insert the switches and put the wires neatly behind it. I dont have anything sticking out anywhere, but it's a matter of "everything in it's place" you know? Sucks.
