Hey guys, been a while since ive been here, but just gonna give a heads up that i am ordering an emanage monday or tuesday of this week, and will hopefully have everything come together in the next month. :D

Been reading some of the emanage threads on here, and will hopefully be contributing to them as well.

Wish me luck, my goal is 230hp with no FMIC, but that will come later this spring.

Planned Parts list:
WRX 440s
Emanage system, using both fuel and timing control.
Greddy MAP sensor.
Flyin Miata o2 Modifier.
Wideband tuned.

:D

and will hopefully be contributing to them as well.
Good luck man keep us posted we can use some more info on the E manage

Emanage has been ordered, but im having second thoughts on this now after really researching everything i need. I am getting this stuff at less than retail, but damn this stuff adds up quick

Emanage Main Unit
Injector and Ignition Harnesses
CD Software
Map Sensor
RPM Signal Adapter
Flyin Miata o2 Mod
AEM wideband
WRX 440s
Installation Labor.

I am getting a HUGE hook up from a local shop i hang out at, but im just not sure if this is really worth it in the long run. I was willing to spend 500 or 600, but this hole project is looking at about 1000+ now to make it work correctly. Im a broke college student.. not really sure i can afford all this right now.

Obviously, i dont have to have the wideband, but it will make tuning this so much easier and safer.

I dont wanna offend the shop either by ordering everything cheaper on ebay since they are installing it cheap too. Hmm..

Does everyone think this is really worth it?
I havent actually paid anything yet, and i dont wanna be doing this for the next 3 months. Argh.... cars suck!

take advantage of the fact that you're getting some help now, bite the bullet on the expenses, and consider it a long term investment.

i always start to freak when i buy something pretty expensive, but you just gotta stick to your decision and find the bright spot.

being a broke college student sucks - i feel your pain ...

why didnt you buy the greddy o2 modifier? You didn't need the MAP sensor unless you wanted the extra 16x16 resolution on top of the 16x16.

KyRaceFan

Greddy o2 mod?

Dont see that anywhere, and the greddy website is so confusing, it says i can set the airflow adjustment with a factory MAF or MAP, but i can use the greddy MAP and press sensor to set larger scales of adjustment. If i can only tune 5 preset points +-20% without it that still gives me some control, but id rather have a 16x16 adjustment map.
The additional map is for extra injector control, which i wouldnt utilize since part of the plan is to upgrade my injectors to 440s.

Who all is running an emanage MSP right now? Anyone left? It seems like everyone that ive read about that does it has sold it for something else.

I could use some good advice here.

I still run the Emanage and have been for over a year you will love it, one thing you will need to do is free up your exhaust. I can not see your mods if they are in your sig.

http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74341&highlight=emanage

This is the best thread for the emanage, I do have maps for my car, you will find out that you can not mess with the timing to much with the emanage.
One other very important thing is are you flashed with your ECU? I never got mine done, because that I beleave advances your timing. So be careful.

#15900908 O2 modifier for Greddy

Orange what is the problem with the timing adjustment?

KyRaceFan
01-11-2005, 06:00 PM
mods as follows
3in exhaust
hard pipes
CAI
FCD(to be removed when the emanage goes on)
Manual Boost Controller
Non flashed ECU.

How exactly does the MSP control stock timing. Does the ECU read a Cam Angle Sensor and then add or remove timing based on boost pressure? Ive been running 8psi for a while, and turned it up to 11 last night. Pulled great at first, but today it feels like the ECU pulled abotu 10 degrees of timing. Its still really quick, but there definately is a big difference.

Also, 1fstmsp mentioned a yahoo emanage forum, i looked but couldnt find it. Anyone have a link?

Thanks!

The non flashed ecu timing goes down to as much as -2 degrees under boost and 9 degrees advanced at higher rpm and load. Timing is based off the tps, cam sensor, rpm, and possibly boost. I'm trying to figure that last one out. Don't think so but not 100% sure.

~brianI would like to know this too because im about to run emanage as well

Hey just got my parts too

emanage
ignition harness
Boost sensor harness (Profec E-01 to emanage)
Profec E-01
PLX WB O2
Flyin Miata O2 modifier (need to get)
WRX 440cc injectors (need to get)
PnP wiring harness (if price is right this maybe useful for a clean installation)

But funding has slowed down becasue im drying out on cash...but hope to have it running soon as Emanage was not that expensive.

no FMIC just hi-flow cat 2.5 DP. Mainly looking for better gas milage (so dont need injectors for now).

Wanna share some maps when you get started?

Although many have told me PRofec E-01 is useless I like it for several reasons

The display...looks nice
3 hour data log with optional senor wires. I've been told it even logs and display WB O2 reading becasue it is a voltage reader. Think digital gauges with warnings...dont know 100% about the warnign part.
comes with pressure sensor and harness which is about $130 retail. E-01 can allow fast data loading without a laptop. So you can switch to a high boost seting and load up a supporting map without having the blue screen of death aka Microsoft Windows or having a laptop with you. You can do on the fly minor adjustment to maps.

Bought all the greddy dtuff for $600 + $100 for O2 mod and it should be the same price as MPI tunner or unichip. Just how cheap and its compatability is what turned me onto emanage. You can easily sellt he unit later if it doesn work because it works on alot of cars.

Of course lap top is the best way to go when tunning.

Its a good investment because all those parts besides the O2 mod can be used in other cars...so if you decide to sell it then you can most likely use it on your new car.

Im ordering the FM o2 mod tomorrow and then hopefully i'll have everything next week to get started. :D

Between school and work, i have a tight schedule but it will be on within 2 weeks.
Cant wait!

my install is stalled right now becasue of money...I only need

FM O2 modifier
440cc injectors
better FPR and fuel rail (just to be on the safe side...but that comes way later)

oh KYRACEFAN...I would highly recommend a fuel pressure gauge so you can keep tabs on your fuel pressure when tunning. Just for safety...WB o2 can tell you if it run lean but pressure gauge will give a mroe accurate read out and a more percise picture. mucho cheapo to buy for added insurence.

I installed my WB O2 last night but it was acting weird...I decided just to weld a bung and not use the PLX as a PnP intot he ECU. PLX has 2 out puts so you can wire the narrowband output intot he ECU...it worked fine after checking the ODB code but when letting off the gas it ran uber lean...now I noticed that it maybe like that stock because the ECU did nothing to compensate and it didnt throw a lean MIL/CEL code ont he OBD scan tool.

my target for the emanage is to have it in by fall...awhile but im in no hurry. I gonna remain fairly stock for awhile...I just investing in mods to protect/monitor my car...not for power. So emanage is to get me better gas milage for now and bigger dreams later (with the right supporting mods)

KyRaceFan
01-15-2005, 10:27 PM
I plan on running off the stock NB o2 and just having a bung for the WB welded into my stock exhaust, and then later adding a fuel pump and rail, but for now the stock rail and pump will suffice, especially at 10-12 psi which is all im tuning for, and frankly all i want to throw at the motor since it seems to be the safe limit.

I may or may not ever build the bottom end, right now, probably not, but hey if i get a nice new job or start making more money at my current one its not ruled out.

spacemonkey
01-15-2005, 10:41 PM
thats exactly what i plan to do...remin stock for now. Then when warrenty goes and protege parts become cheap go all out. But right now I want drivability which is the reason why I want a piggy back.

Keep us up to date.

I was looking at the install writeup/diagram that Tuboge wrote up and looks like the only trick part in the wirirng is the resistor/maf signal inpur. Other then that its easy splicing/taping int o ECU wires.

Let me know if you need our ECU wiring diagram or instruction..im sure you have them but if you dont PM me.

maybe do a write up for us newbs or future emange proteges?

orangezoom

You will find that if you put in the 440 injectors you will have to put in the fuel pump also, it is not that expensive and it is very easy.

orangezoom
01-16-2005, 09:23 AM
Also I agree with the fuel pressure gauge if you just monitor that you will know if you have problems.

spacemonkey
01-16-2005, 10:39 AM

im assuming you jsut have to know if your ECU is flashed or not. so there isnt much play with the ignition maps if you are flashed because the timming is advanced? But I thought with any piggyback with timming control you can retard and advance timming to your liking. But i know nothing about timming and its somethign I dont want to fuck around with....so that will be done by the pros.

I really dont know, Orangezoom can you shine some light on this? Still the emanage is a good alternative for people who want a custom tune and relitely cheap price. You can probally have control over fuel and timming for less then $500.

Emanage has arrived with the harnesses. FM o2 Modifier has been ordered, and the shop owner is calling greddy tomorrow to get the software overnighted. The AEM wideband should be here tomorrow, so its coming along very quickly.
We'll be tuning without the MAP sensor at first, but i will get that ASAP, just running low on money right now and will need to wait till beginning of feb to order it.

Could orangezoom shine some more light on the timming issue?

I assume since the ECU is flashed it runs a more advance timming and emanage can only retard or advance so much in the timming area.

Therefore its a different range in timming for flashed and unflashed ECU? Will this be a problem? explain the pros and cons of this...just trying to learn more.

That is correct what you are saying and I believe that you are going to have to pump even more fuel then I am pumping to get the right AF. this is if you have a flashed ECU, I do not think you can retard the timing that much I could be wrong

How many degrees can Emanage retard the timing? Also, I can't remember, but aren't the units in Emanage a little different than degrees (ie - 1 Emanage timing unit doesn't equal 1 degree of timing)?

I would think that it would allow maybe 20 degrees retard. That should be enough for pretty much anything. I could be wrong, though. I'm not really sure why they would limit the amount of retard.

spacemonkey
01-28-2005, 09:22 AM
Form what I understand emanage a 0 equals factory setting....so I would think any postivie or negative number is pretty much what it says. It should be one of the most straight foward EMUs on the market. Wont give you alot of control but who can beat the price?

A/F is +/- 20%...timming I dont think that much maybe +/- 9 degrees?

Whatcha think Orangezoom?

you guys can also find my maps posted in my emanage thread, but as far as the timing issue, i had a flashed car...

you can not go more than +/-5 in closed loop or you will throw a CEL, been there, done that...i acutally added timing down low in the rpm band for extra power during daily driving and also quicker spooling with the bigger turbo...

let me know if you have any other questions, good luck...

Argh, i blew my weekend drinking heavily instead of installing emanage, and now work all day saturday and all day sunday this weekend. I may leave the car in the shop over this week to get it done, but i wanted to have a more hands on install than that, so im not sure when it will be done now.

Adding timing down low is something ive always thought about too as a response to the "hesitation" ive never gotten rid of. More boost just cant remedy the midrange stutter issue.

I'll look for the maps too

Thanks

Finally got started today on the emanage install. Gotta work all day tomorrow, and by the time i get off, car should be running and have some sort of base map.
Friday the wideband goes in, and then sometime after that the rear motor mount.

Soon to follow:
Spec Stage 2
Corksport Clutch line
Wrx injectors
walbro 255.

If your car isnt flashed you shouldn't have to worry about timing. maybe pull a few degrees at high rpm and thats about it. They just need more fuel adjustment.

cool, I think I will be going with the full Greddy system and see what we can pull out of it!!! I hope to create a post just for the e-manager and everything to do with it.

I don't want people coming in saying another system is better etc, etc, I just want people who have good advice and tools like maps etc to post.

I think we can get things going real good with the e-manager....

So with that said, post any advice, maps, documents or anything else to this thread.... Don't forget to search the internet for data that others have avaliable and post the links here as well....
