I had Linux Racr hook up his PDA Dyno to my car for some diagnostics. We noticed the ecu pulls timing when in boost. Timing in mid range drops way down to almost 0 degrees at some point, this being a non flashed ecu.

to a tuning noob, like me, what does that translate to?

It's what causes the hesistation in addition to the overly rich a/f. This is what supposedly is fixed in the flashed version by adding timing. Which is why its been said its safer to boost 10-12 psi on a non flashed msp compared to a flashed one. Also good info to know for the non msp guys when tuning their turbo proteges.

Wow...
next time data log RPM and timing, and upload here! :)

that just means you need to add more boost to compensate

Problem with that is timing comes back up at higher rpm.
