I dont know crap about turbo's. Ok, i know a little. But when people put like a 38mm Tial Wastegate as a modification, what exactly does that do? I know the wastegate controls the amount of boost, so would a Tial allow more boost to be run? Any gain in hp, etc? Could it be used on the stock gt25?

i'm not 100% sure on this but i think an aftermarket wastegate would hold boost better, considering our stock one is shitty and spikes. I think a better one would spike less.

I may be wrong, but to my knowledge, I don't think you can switch to an external waste gate on our car without changing the turbo/manifold setup.
But I may be wrong though...(screwy)

Our turbos have an internal wastegate so you would not be able to change the wastegate unless you change the turbo. If you want to boost more get a boost controller.

You can weld up the stock wastegate and then run an external. Not sure why you are worried about this but it can be done.

i'm not doing it, but i had no idea what it did, and why people put them on, so i was just trying to figure it out. learn something everyday ya know?

yeah, MAM's SS kit uses a GT28rs with an internal wastegate not being used. its detatched, and forced to stay closed. then the Tial 38mm is used.
the reason an external WG is better is because they are a more consistant design
