Hey guys, what are some really good mods for my MSP, i just got a black one with only 12,000 miles on it. i really want to speed it up, its a blast to drive, but i want it faster, ive been planning on modding it but didnt know how, im looking for over 200 whp, and money is usually not a problem. thanks.

Ok here is the first mod I would recommend: Get an STI. (evil)

Just kidding.
Try searching around, there is plenty of information already out there on this topic.

Many people go with exhuast, upgraded IC, boost controller w/ colder plugs for starters.

Here's my personal plan for upcoming mods on my car:
GHL Downpipe
Airflow Logistics Air/Fuel Controller
Hardpipes and SMIC (probably from CustomMSP)
Something to replace stock bpv(haven't decided yet)

And things i have already done:
Removed VTCS and ported the intake manifold
AEM CAI converted to "short ram" style
Thermal spacers for intake manifold
AWR front motor mount
Delsing clunk fix brackets
Kartboy shifter bushings
Bronzeoil shifter bushings
HKS Turbo Timer
1sty Grounding kit

I'm probably missing a lot, but that's all just off the top of my head.

Careful with upping the boost on our cars, we don't need any more members of the Zoom-Zoom-Boom club. Do some searches, browse the latest topics, get a little research and know what you're dealing with before you start. Welcome to the boards.

If money is honestly not a problem, get a GHL downpipe and any type or 3in exhaust back from there. Aem or Injen cold air intake, hiboost front mount or perrin front mount, both very good systems. Unichip or some type of Engine Management system. Electronic boost controller, or a manual boost controller, i've found that a Turboxs hi performance boost controller works great! and i've had no boost spikes yet, so i'd say give those a try, set it at a safe 9-10 psi, and it'll move pretty good.

CustomMSP is a member of this forum. He makes and sells a Side Mount InterCooler, which is a direct replacement for the stock IC. You could also get a FMIC:Front Mount Intercooler from other vendors which require you to replace your IC pipes, since they route to a different location.

if money isn't a problem go GHL full turbo-back exhaust, MAM front mount with their cold air intake, get an ebc and some colder plugs and maybe some emangement

time for me to chime in, GHL Turboback ehxuast is the shit. and with money being no option order it with an extra delete pipe so you can be catless and resonatorless when you got the track and such. then the fmic shit and some tuning! lots of it!

If you're gonna get an extra delete pipe, might as well go with an electronic cutout instead IMO. You hsould have better gains with that. Cat-delete, Catback? never heard of it ;)

Look at the Mental Addition Sleeper or Thumper kits if money isn't a problem. Beau or Juan from HiBoost will sort that MSP out!

GET RODS, GET RODS, GET NEW PISTONS AND RODS...

Get some type of engine management. Might as well get it running right before you start doing alot of modding and definitely before you try to increase the boost. Remember also that Mazda loves voiding warranties, but if money is not a problem, I guess that does not matter.

1.dsm air fuel controller
2. turboback exhaust
3. Upgraded Intercooler
4.10 psi

that should get you over 200whp and not use too much cash. If you want to go 225+whp you will have to build the motor.

remember he said he didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money since he wants the sti so the sleeper and thumper would be out. with the basic bolt ons, turbo back, fmic, intake, along with some gauges and enginemanagement he should be fine. and if he wants a boost controller.
