stock is 6-7psi
are you flashed?

you really really should read up on what is safe, it really depends. some have blown at STOCK psi, some have blown at 14psi.

Stock boost is what the boost gauge tells you it is. Mine was 6psi. Some members have posted a low of 4psi, I think and a high of 9psi. I'd say 8-9psi is cool as long as you're not spiking over 9.5-10. That's with copper plugs as some cheap insurance.

Flashed is when the car gets taken to the dealership for to get the pcm "flashed". It's a timing advance to smooth out the hesitation these cars are known to get. You don't want to boost much more than 9 on a flashed car because you can run overly lean and blow your engine. I posted the max psi most people with higher boost run in my previous post. 8-9 is max if you're using a manual boost controller so you can account for boost spikes. If you have an electric boost controller then 9-10psi should be good since the EBC isn't know to spike.

there is a "flash" to the engine computer since there is new mapping. I am wondering if you had this done

Run a search for supporting mods too. There's sticky with proper spark plugs to use depending on your situation, also with the increased air taken in, it'd be a good idea to get a midpipe to allow that extra air out. A better intake will also allow your turbo to pull the air in a little more efficiently.

I had an AEM cold air put in today, 3inch intercooler is going in on saturday.
I think i will set the boost regulator at 8 or 9 PSI to be safe. Engine internals are next on my list

Supposedly most of the 2003.5s were done either at the docks or by the dealerships upon arrival. Get a report of the warranty work done to your car and see if there's a PCM upgrade on it. Until you know for sure, I'd run 8psi. Unfortunately raising boost on this car is a little trickier than most factory turbo cars. You got 3in intercooler pipes to replace the plastic stock ones?

These cars were essentially hand assembled port side. Basically everything you don't see on a regular Protege were done by the lowest bidder when these cars came into North America so there are a lot of factory freaks here. Officially, I think our cars do 0-60 in 6.9 seconds and the 1320 in 15.2 @ 92mph. Some here have gotten high 14s stock and performance stats are always driver dependant.
