Hey, looking for some help. When I put on my Injen cold air intake on my 02 LX. I heard that there is an option of putting a bypass valve on these to make sure no water is getting pushed inside. I need to know if that is a big concern or if there is enough of a vertical incline that it shouldn't matter. Winter is coming up and I want to make sure it stays "dry" Any help would be appreciated.:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :D

It's my opinion that the bypass valve is a waste of money unless you regularly drive through 3' deep water.

Ditto!! when properly installed...the filter is nicely tucked away in the forward fender well....its totally inclosed, on all sides so there is no worry about "splashing" NOR it being covered with snow....and IF you are the type of person that would drive their car through standing water a foot deep or more....THEN get a different intake...otherwise...you are good to go..

and another thing...do NOT allow anyone to talk you into the BS heat shield either....that too is a waste of your money...not to mention it makes putting on the filter about 10 times harder.

The only extra part that would maybe think about getting is the splash shield, I tood my filter out and the metal meshing was covered in rust. But it was a cheapo filter. If you get a K&N it probably wont do that.

Thanks, I didn't think I really needed one. I could barely fit my hand up there to get the filter on anyway. Thanks for the help. I'm sure I'll probaly have more questions. You guys are great, I am a rookie at some of this stuff, and I appreciate a site I can go to and ask questions without getting put down for being new

K&N won't rust.

I agree with Ben and Sir Nuke I have not seen the benefits of my bypass. Splash guard would be a good Idea especially if you have a sedan Non-MP3 type just to keep the plastic tire guard from rubbing the hell out of the filter. I drive through alot of snow and it never packs up inside my bumper enough to even get close to my intake filter. Good Luck and Welcome to the forum:D
