kick harder you say? lol how freakin hard did you have to kick them? I mean... not for nothing but I'm a black belt and gave it about as hard a kick a guy can give. (ok ok.. maybe I held back a little) but still!! u sure there's nothing I missed? I mean... it's like these freakin things are glued on or something.

or you could just screw the lugs on about half way with your fingers and SLOWLY lower the car. this should seperate the rim from the rotor......

Once you get the rims off ,use anti sieze on the areas that the rims come in contact with the rotors ,This will allow you to remove the rims at a later date . Alloy rims tend to do this because of the electrolicic reaction betweehn two dissimilar metals .
Another way to release the rims is put one nut on the stub . them wack the tire with a rubber mallet ,dont wack the rims as you put a dent in it .

try to hit it from underneath your car. so use a jack and jack stands. use a rubber mallet... hit the bottom part of the wheel and tire a few times and it should pop off.

rubber mallet to back side of tire/rim =)

i usually would give it a few hard kicks to the bottom side of the tire, ussually works, but it can be a pain.

can be a pain is right! I'm not sure if mine were any harder or not (than the typical) but since this was the first time I ever did this sort've thing, I had nothing to compare it to. I did however ask a few people who I know have and they all said they never heard of anyone having as much trouble as I did. I finally got em all off but it wasn't easy. Since I didn't have a rubber mallet, (though, in hindsight, it would have been smarter to just go to HD and buy one for this purpose) bottom line... mule kicking didn't do shit. taking the toe of my boot and kicking the tire (didn't seem to matter where) pretty much as hard as I could... that's the only thing that seemed to work.

Never again will this happen!! anti-seize for sure!!

btw... these winter tires handle like shit! lol defeats the purpose of having a kick ass car (in the handling department at least) if every winter I gotta throw these unbelievables incompetent tires on. while they'll keep me alive during the shitty weather, during a typical winter season (even up here in the northeast) exactly what percentage of the winter falls into that category? 30% at the most... which means the rest of the time you could have been safely on the stocks. oh well.. .at least I don't have to worry about the wheels getting damaged and crap. no more twisties for a while... that's for sure. almost spun out earlier today tryin that shit!

if its on the ground give it some kicks. I had my car on the lift at work. I couldn't get the right rear rear wheel off. I hit it a bunch of times with a deadblow hammer. THen it finally came off. Fell on the ground and broke my fucking center cap. WHen I was in HS I remember my teacher talkinga bout when cougars starting comming with alloy wheels everyone was afraid to hit the wheels with a mallet so they would pour some coke where the rotor meets the wheel and let it sit for a like 5 minutes. Come back give it a nudge and it'll come off. I have yet to try it but he said it worked.

the rears are a PITA to get off.......just the mazda alloys though. my steel winter rims and konigs have never had a problem coming off.

Kick it or get a soft mallet and tap it off

Best to do is use a rubber mallot to the inside of the wheel. If that doesn't work put 2 lugs on hand tight and drop the jack then try again with that hammer. To stop that from happening again clean the contact surface on the face of the rotors with a scotch-brite pad or something. If you regularly take the wheels off for ratations and such this should be a problem again, at least not as bad.

This totally happened to me this winter while switching over wheels. I put the car ALMOST to the ground and I put a 2x4 under the car against the tire and I slammed the 2x4 with another 2x4. Took several GOOD wacks to get it off. Very wierd.
