I just closed a deal on a shiny new GHL downpipe, and I'm wondering if I should look into getting a catback sometime in the future. Has anyone dynoed the power difference for something like this(dp vs dp+catback)? I'm not interested in getting something that only changes the sound of my car, more interested in how much power I should expect to gain.

5whp if you're lucky. not a pressing matter by any means.

yupyup Thermal R&D got 3whp, I believe. I think the Apex or JIC will be a bit better, maybe 5-8. Not trying to say it isn't worth it, but I think an I/C upgrade would be more pressing.

it couldnt hurt though, cause it would be creating a bottleneck of sorts with the stock catback.

yupyup It's not a bad purchase by any means, but for the money, I think it's worth it to look elsewhere for performance.

so you guys are saying that you will see better gains from getting a FMIC/SMIC setup first, compared to an exhaust setup..
I'm debating on which to do next., FMIC or GHL S-pipe/midpipe combo along with the GReddy SP2..

I'm guessing a catback would give more gains in conjunction with a downpipe, as compared to a catback alone. Is this true?

Most likely... Both is the best way to go.

I'm only thinking of going with the GReddy SP2 because I heard that the thermal exhuast was loud. Is this correct. I want some rumble but not nothing loud.. But the look of the Thermal's tip and muffler looks good.

exactly why i didnt go thermal... i heard it was loud. i just want a nice low tone and nothing really loud.... the SP2 with a dp should fit the bill.

Get an electric Cut-Out, 8whp when fully opened, and you can avoid any noise at any time with the flip of a switch, much cheaper too.

HELL NO!the thermal sounds very nice, and quiet, sounds kinda like a M3.it is quieter then the greddy.
it's quieter even with a 3' DP,and no cats.
thats one of the things thermal R&D are known for is the mellow sounds that still perform.
