The Blazing Yellow is done in a 3 part application process. Base, Primary color and then the gloss finish.
If you look closely, at your front air dam you will see that it does not perfectly match the rest of the yellow. The reason for this is, there is NO color code, only a close guess.
Mazda (and everyone else) cannot produce a touch up paint. I have the codes required for a very very close yellow match but they are not with me presently. I wouldn't use it for painting a grill.
When I use this yellow for touch ups I cover it later with clear nail polish and WOW almost perfect, atleast good enough at more then 6 inches away.
If you want the codes, PM me.

Actually, it's base (primary), pearlescent(pinkish w/metal flake), and clear. You can order a "paint-pack" from Mazda...it includes all three paints. Not sure how much THAT costs, though.

Close - Its base then MICA then clear. not pearl and not metallic - its mica flakes.

color codes HAHA
but there they are as close as possible. This is only the base yellow. You need a dark (black I think) undercoat and a clear coat finish.
Use this yellow for paint chips and when dry, cover with clear nail polish.

Close - Its base then MICA then clear. not pearl and not metallic - its mica flakes.I'm just going by what the body shop person told me. Anyhow, on the stcker on your door jamb, It has the body color number near the bottom...I believe it's 26s, but check to be sure.

Correct 26s
However, unless things have changed, Mazda Service does not have any info on this color, other then the code number and Mazda never made any touch up paint.
I checked with the local (top notch) paint shop here and they don't have the make up of that color because Mazda never published them.
My color codes above will get you a very very close yellow. I have been using it for touch ups and then I cover the touch ups with clear nail polish and it looks SWEET.

i had some body work done and my paint is perfectly matched, i'll see if my freind chris at the body shop still has the color mix and ask him in what order it was laid down. give me a day or two because i am out of town. but i did notice the front lip and side skirts on my yellow msp don't match the rest of the car and it came from the factory that way.

It's the same paint, but the skirts and lip are painted over black plastic, and the body is painted over gray primer. The plastic pieces look darker yellow.

Crash the car and when they are repainting the front end have them do the grill too. Thats what I did (hand)

I got hit by a car this christmas, cracked the bumper and dented the driver side wheel well. They replace bumber and well, but now the paint doesn't match. It's too yellow and not enough "orangy"... I need to go back and have them fix it cause it looks stupid, I'm really pissed about this. Anyways, should it be ok if they use they paint mixed mentioned above or is that only for touch ups? Could it be just that they didn't use the right primer?

And don't let them give you that "well, your car has faded over time, and the new paint makes it look that way" horseshit.

Paint your car silver... ;)
Good idea...
Actually I doubt the insurance will cover stripping the entire paint and repainting the whole car ;)
I tried calling Mazda Canada about the 3 paint thing, they have no clue what I'm talking about. Ain't it great to not be able to get the right info from the right people. I don't really see myself telling the body shop how they need to paint my car and tell them I read it on the internet. They'll think I'm a freak.

This is a very old thread... why the bump? What info do you want ?????
brokemp3
02-13-2006, 06:20 PM
not only that the info is all bogus anyway. there is a paint code its on your doorjamb and any good paint supply shop will mix it. you dont need "special paint from mazda"
evolv
02-13-2006, 06:39 PM
yes code 26s but at the time when this thread was started Mazda did not have a touch up paint with this code...

Trying to figure out what I need to do to ensure that my new bumper cover will match correctly. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Yesterday I was driving home from school on I85 and all of the sudden I saw a wheel flying through the air straight at my windshield. I managed to slow down and dodge most of the impact, but the wheel still hit the bottom right side of my bumper, scarred up my bumper cover and pretty much destroyed my lip. The thing was just f*#king bouncing around on the freeway and traffic prevented me from seeing it early enough to avoid it.
The reason I'm bumping such an old thread is because I use the search function ruthlessly ,lol. I've been a member for a good while now and look at my post count. The reason its low is because I usually find my answers searching instead of starting a bunch of worthless threads.

Hey I was wondering if any 1 had an idea of how much it would cost to get the center(V shape) of the hood of my 2003.5 MS protege painted silver? I want something with some flake too, to stand out, please let me know, thanks.
