This may have been covered but I cant find a definitive answer. We have basically the same engine as the focus. Does this mean the we can use upgrades released for the focus on the 3? There's so many options out there for the Focus, cant we take advantage?
PS-Not saying I'm a Focus fan, the 3 is the shizzle, just anxious about the parts!
PPS-Please no "should" or "shouldnt", or " in theory" replies. I welcome everyones opinion, but I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it and why if possible!

(hand) just because we have the same engines doesn't mean shit! Yea go ahead and use those parts<-----if you can use those parts then most mz3 would be fixed up. You shouldnt do it!

Some parts will work like Cosworth's intake manifold, but as tgv121281 said I wouldn't go putting things in without checking into it first. You'll have to look in to it for each part.
edit: and even the Manifold will cause a CEL.

It's the same block but just about everything else is different. Most Focus parts won't work.

The only confirmed parts to fit is the Cossie intake manifold and balance shaft delete kit. Pullies, throttle bodies, intakes, cat-back exhaust will not. Other parts will be tested like cams, cam alignment tool and the header. The header from the Focus will bolt up to the block, the question is will it bolt up to the rest of the exhaust? I think it will be very close and we will find out soon.

i don't know about you guys but i owned a focus. i would not use its parts on any other cars. the performance parts were great but the stock parts were crap.

I seriously doubt they wanted to put stock Focus parts on a Mazda3. (doh)

No we were referring to utitlizing the focus's aftermarket parts...doesnt make much sense do put focus stock parts on a 3, unless maybe as replacements---but even then I doubt it.
