WMS Header + Magnaflow Catback

Has anyone else noticed that the exhaust note on the P5 is totally different when the car is cold? Once mine warms up the exhaust gets more noticeable and sounds so much better. I would imagine it is because of VTCS but can anyone verify this?

On a sidenote this I got the Wagner Shorty Header and Magnflow Catback for my B-Day and Christmas and I LOVE IT! The exhaust note is so sweet. Nice and low. Quiet. Hardly noticeable except for the change to a lower note. I sit at stoplights and rev the car just to listen to it. For anyone worried about doing this combo HAVE NO FEAR the combo produces a sweet exhaust note and the gains, while not a stark difference, are noticeable. I would testify to the sound at idle, but I have an MP3 ECU, and no VTCS anymore, plus I can hardly remember what it sounds like with all the old Protege5 OE stuff and just the shorty header/catback. My exhaust is pretty damn loud, now, and I'm thinking of reworking the cat back and header section. The equal length header is great, but it was a one-off ceramic coated mild steel deal, and it lasted well over 3 years before cracking, but it's still being a bitch. =/ My first cat is now just a test pipe, though, as the precat was cracked anyway.

Enjoy the quiet of still having a first cat, and a quiet cat back. =) It's something I took for granted, and no longer can enjoy. Hehee.

could we see a pic of your magnaflow exhaust. i'm just curious actually what the tail pipe tip looks like concerning the diameter and styling.

yeah....i will try and get a pick for you soon...my car is dirty right now and it would be embarassing to post it (headshake....let me wash it and i will try to post a pic this weekend
