I haven't tried those, but I was thinking of picking up some Mickey Thompson slicks for the track. Nobody seems to be running them so I'm having a hard time finding an opinion on them.

the M/T slicks are excellent....I haven't run them on this car, but I had a set on my F-150 and with traction bars they shaved off .6 on my 1/4 times

I used those the season before last. BF had a booth set up and they were letting people use them for free. I forget how much my 60' decreased, but I was impressed. It was an MX-6 I was running them on. VERY good tires. :thumbs-up:
I use M/T baby slicks on my Protege now. I'll probably sell them and get bigger ones for next season however.

What size M/T are you going for? I've still been debating which size to get. Also, are you going to run them on M/T drag rims? I'm not a guru on tires, but I'm trying to learn:)

Currently I have 1st Gen. Ford Probe GT wheels for the slicks. They're 15" and pretty light (aluminum). They were free so I wasn't too worried about what they were. I painted them with gunmetal wheel paint too. :)
I don't know what size I will move up to, I haven't really looked into it much yet. I want a slick that will support at least mid-12's. I'm not sure where I'll be at with power yet, I'm expecting around 300.

off topice question......why is the Mazdaspeed clutch so much more expensive than the 2.0L protege clutch? Shouldn't it be the same clutch.....it's the same motor and transmission, just with a turbo on it.

I imagine the MSP clutch can hold more torque/HP than a N/a clutch. That's the price difference.

Do you have a pic of those Probe GT wheels? I'd like to see them and maybe try to get a set for race purposes.
I PM'ed you a pic also.
For anyone else that might be interested here's a pic of what I've got after I painted them.
FYI, you will need a spacer to clear everything with these wheels. You can get a set at most auto parts stores for like $12. Mr. Gasket makes them if I remember correctly.

Don't buy the drag radials, there not worth it.

That's not really fair to say... There are trade-offs to using either.
I use to throw my race tires/wheels on the night before a race. Then the next day you drive straight to the track and don't have to worry about them.
I prefer slicks now though.

My best ever 60' on drag radials was 2.16... My best on stock tires 2.19.
