OMGLOLBBQ!
Took out the old plugs (haha, these things were nasty) and put in some new ones...NGK, extended reach, one step colder. The difference was nite and day. No more rough idle, erratic idle, better gas milage, better throttle response, less hesitation, and FUEL CUT!!! Never thought spark plugs could make a difference like this.

Yeah...thats what an overlyrich mixture will do. What do you think your combustion chambers look like?
Thats alright people, keep calling me crazy for performing a top engine clean/ fuel injection service every 2 weeks when in racing season.

I put on MANY many miles on these plugs. I should have changed them out WAY before this. But I didn't. Now I think I should look into getting those chambers looked at no?

I dont blame you one bit... when I tore down my engine I was appalled at the filth of my pistons... and I know the mp3 runs leaner than the msp... I can only imagine......
I've torn down several SBC's and I've never seen one of them look like this... and they were carburated (which almost always runs rich as fsck)

It seems to have all the same features as the BKR7E that everyone used to recommend, but also adds extended reach.

NGK BKR7E (http://www.sparkplugs.com/more_info.asp?AAIA=&pid=3040)
http://www.sparkplugs.com/productImages/1/NGK27C%2Ejpg
NGK ZFR7F (http://www.sparkplugs.com/more_info.asp?AAIA=&pid=3326)
I still have my BKRs that I had in for about 400 miles until rough idle forced me to take them out. Too bad I can't exchange them for these. I'll pick up a set of my own & see how they feel.

Yes I too would like to hear more about Seafoam.
I gapped mine at .34"
I put around 15k miles on these plugs...I think..not 100% sure. Its been awhile. This is from a guy that put on 30k miles before owning the car one year (which it will be tommorow).

get a gapping tool at the parts store.
oldzoomer
12-16-2004, 12:06 AM
goto wal-mart, sears, or auto parts store and get a leaf gauge/gap tool for <$5.
just be careful not to bend it too much while gapping.

I have 34544 miles on my car and I have not changed the plugs since I bought the car so I guess its time to change those originals with these NGK's damn glad I found this thread. Oh and can any one tell me where I can pick up some of this seafoam shit and how easy is it to put into your car.

It is pretty amazing that a little piece like that can help out the car so much. I agree with dr sound though, by a couple of sets while you are paying for shipping, you will need to replace them soon enough..
