View Full Version : Vote for the Authorized Vendor of the Year!
Kooldino

As stated in the nomination thread (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90574&page=1&pp=15) I said that we'd soon be voting on qualified candidates for Authorized Vendor of the Year, who would receive 6 months of free AV status. Said qualified candidates are the following:
-Mental Addiction Motorsports
-Automotive R&D
-Kartboy
-Modern Performance Inc (MPNick)
-SPD Racing
Again, THIS IS NOT a thread to praise or bash vendors in! Please just vote based on your experience with the vendors.
You will notice that for every vendor listed in the vote, there is also an "Anti" of each vendor. Using your single vote, you could either vote for your favorite vendor, or vote against a vendor by voting the "anti" option of that vendor, in case, for instance, you had a very bad experience with said vendor.
To illustrate how it works, let's pretend for simplicity that there's 3 nominees...you could either for for vendor A, B, or C....OR if for example, you had a problem with a vendor, you could vote "Anti A, Anti B, Anti C". So in this scenario there would be 6 voting options total:
A
B
C
Anti A
Anti B
Anti C
When it's all said and done, we subtract the "anti" votes from their scores...
Final A = A - Anti A
Final B = B - Anti B
Final C = C - Anti C
So for example, if Vendor A had 500 votes and 3 Anti Votes, their final score would be 497.
Obviously, the vendor with the highest score wins. Let the voting begin. :)

That's why I said that "THIS IS NOT a thread to praise or bash vendors in!". Vote on your opinion, and that's that. If company XYZ is on the above list, and they screwed you over before, then vote against them if it makes you sleep better at night.
Let's not invent problems. This is meant to be a good thing.

the anti thing is going to give people who dont give a shit a chance to just bring down whatever the top company will be just because they can... Im not inventing problems, it will happen.
and I voted MAM

Then they waste their vote. I just wanted to include some kind of check and balance. If 90% of the community thinks company XYZ is great, but 10% of the community really got screwed over by them, I want this to reflect that.

12-13-2004, 04:27 PM
the problem is, how is that checking balance when people who don't give two shits or even have experience through the vendor vote negatively??
mp5jeff
12-13-2004, 04:36 PM
also, people can create new screen names and then vote again, rather it be negative or positive...can anyone see who is voting?

Well, if they didn't have the option, then they could have voted for #2 so that #2 surpassed #1. It would still hurt #1 the same either way. This way lets them focus on who may have screwed them over, rather than spreading out positive votes for other people, which could be unwarranted.
Example: How many people voted for Kerry to spite Bush, even though they may not have liked Kerry? Ditto for the reverse. With the anti system, you could vote against Kerry or Bush, without actually voting FOR one of them.
But again, I like to give people more options.

Theres only 2 anti votes. Maybe we should cross this bridge when we get there. It doesn't appear to be abused so far.
I voted SPD. They rock.

12-13-2004, 06:26 PM
ok and what was the purpose of the 2 anti votes? that's all im saying, imo we should decipher whether the "anti" posts are legitimate or not, but hey it's not my thread so i guess it doesn't matter...

I know Beau very well, and I know for a fact he quickly corrects any mistake or problem that is his fault at his expense. I'm thinking there is a little envy/ tired of hearing about how great Beau is, going on here.

This needs to be addressed...
And I quote myself from an Admin forum post about "Super Matty P"
Yup...he seems to be "civil" now although I will never forget what he did nor will I ever trust him...
Think before you make absurd comments Matthew...If elements of the "old" matty emerge...I will not think twice before deleting and banning anything that even sounds like matty.
Now...on with the voting!

Thats exactly what I'm saying though. They aren't wasting their vote because they were never really going to vote anyway. People who vote for someone just to spite the other should take the option of just not voting. Or you could have put in a "none of the above" option instead. Since we all know we are talking about MAM, who has honestly been screwed over by MAM? We would have heard about it by now. Sure they have had some issues occasionally with shipping and such, but they were all taken care of personally at Beau's expensive to be corrected. Thats not screwed over that's just "shit happening." I see what you were trying to do, and it would probably work better if people couldn't see the the results until it was over, and no one posted who they voted for as well. That way no one can vote against someone in the lead for the hell of it. but I suppose its too late anyway.. just a suggestion for next time maybe...

What the hell would the point of that be?

so have the people who do the "anti" votes pm you with why they are voting that way, you don't have to disclose their names, how would that create drama?
Kooldino
12-14-2004, 12:44 AM
Anyway, enough about the anti "anti" vote option. If you don't like the option, don't use it. I gave justification for giving the option, as I like to give people as many options as possible. It's already there, it's already said and done. It's not going to change. And whether or not those poeple are voting out of spite or voting because they were really screwed over is irrelvant, really. That's why this is anonymous.
Besides, if they can vote against someone out of spite, why can't they vote FOR someone for an equally silly reason? Six of one, half dozen of the other guys. Do the math...in the end, it'd all work out about the same. This way just allows people to express themselves differently if they choose to.
Another option they could use is this: There's company A, B, and C. A is in first place. They have no problem with A, but they really LOVE B and C. They can't decide who to vote for between B and C. So ,they can vote against A, as to give both of their favorites (B and C) a better chance at winning. It helps get rid of the "Nader factor" so to speak.
Again, it's all about giving people more options, case closed.

Wow, thanks guys i'm seriously honored that you have even nominated us for this. Without my serious hands on involvement in the past year, we've still tried to maintain a level of quality and standard for the protege guys. Not to mention trying to get stuff made by manufacturer's to suit or limited needs. hehe.
In any case, I just wanted to stand up here on behalf of Auto R & D with this award in my hand, and thank all our fans. WE LOVE YOU ALL. I can't forget to thank the mighty man up above. Without him none of us would be here. I want to thank my mom, dad, sister, my chocolate lab tai, my cholocate lab coco, my yellow lab butter, and my fat tail gecko pepe' lepeiu, sp? hehe. I always wanted to do that.
Seriously tho, if we have fallen off it's largely because of an intense growth movement for the company. In 2005 the industry and our users will truly be able to reap the benefits our recent efforts.
Well, I would vote MAM too cause i want that sick tubular manifold and GT Turbo. HEHE. I'm not sad, I'm glad. Shit SPD are my boyzzzzzz. They should be number two or one. Chris is on here all the time and I'm sure answers a lot more questions than I have. Well I do have the RISHIE'S FITMENT RECIPE (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9129). That shit was pivotal. hehe.

almost exclusively responsible for the appearance aftermarket in the US for the protege. Probably imported more autoexe and mintblue pieces for the protege than anyone else. I bet the DGM pieces were molded off of autoexe gear from Rishie (as much as he probably hates to hear that) and the demand for the replica lips and grills was created by the original autoexe stuff he brought in.
original Custom EVO VIII style fiber images CF hoods.
Work wheels and any other expensive forged wheels from japan. Endless brakes, JIC/TEIN coilovers.
Nothing is done half assed. Every single thing AutoRnD touches is done the best it can possibly be done, or its not done at all.

You guys are awesome. Thank you sooooo much. I guess I'm gonna have to start opening up that Special VIP book and start adding names to it once again. hehe.
I already did my speech so I'll leave it at that. Thanks guys and continue to wish us luck as we dig deeper and deeper into the Japanese market.
TODAY we are filming kind of a "Tuner Transformation" kind of show for KTSF Ch 26 STIR TV. We'll be using one of my FC's and installing the Zeal Coilovers, Endless 6Pot Mini Inch Up brakes, GP Exhaust, Bride Seats, Work Meister S1 wheels and tires. It's gonna be great. I haven't even seen the car yet. It's gonna show up from the body shop a half hour before the shoot. lol. Not even cut or buffed, haha. I'll take pics from a distance so you can see what it will loook like. lol.
Later this week, JGTC/D1 Endless Booth. We have President of Endless coming with the Race Queens. oooooo. hehe.
Thanks, Rishie
Slug, you are so right. DG must have replicated my AutoExe stuff and I know who supplied them too. lol. But what can you do. I've complained etc... but it won't help. I try to stand up for the manufacturer's who really spend the time and money to design this stuff, but in America it's almost always a losing battle. We need to start looking for service and quality rather than price. This is the strongest movement we will be making within the industry. I know this kinda sucks for a forum, but I really want people who are near good shops to use them. We really need to support our local tuners etc.... Being in wholesale I see so many potentially great shops never make it. Really sucks.

Well, it looks like the polls officially closed a few hours ago. And it looks like MAM won by quite a margin! Congrats to Mental Addiction Motorsports. You're our 2004 Authorized Vendor of the Year!
(first)
I'd also like to take the time to thank each and every one of our AVs, ESPECIALLY the ones that made it to this final poll. You're all here for a reason - you've all done something GREAT for the Mazda community, and your customers recognize that. Thank you all for everything you've brought to the table. We wouldn't have it as good as we do if it weren't for each of you.
