I have been looking at the CF trunks they have been making, and in my opinion they look ugly. No spoiler is just not my style, and they don't hold the OEM shape. I think we should have someone make a complete trunk/spoiler combo that keeps the OEM look of either the 03 or 03.5 MSP proteges. I think that would look tight and reduce weight. Wondering what everyone else thought of the idea?? I'm sure it would fit regular proteges and MP3s, so it wouldn't have to be restricted to the MSP market. Anyone else think it would be a good idea?

Guess not. Ahh well, guess I'll just have to keep the stock trunk.

I have only seen one carbon fiber trunk out for the Protege and it's just like the OEM trunk lid.

I'm hoping to be working with a company shortly to get good quality trunk lids and hatches (for sedan and wagon). I'll post more info when the details are figured out.

their is 2 companies making the oem trunk lid for the sedan... they are oem minus the spoiler but all you have to do is find somebody to make the spoiler oe buy a diffrent c/f spoiler(their are a shit load to choose from).... here is the vis one btw.... http://www.msprotege.com/members/joka1/apperance/new%20trunk%202.jpg dont say anything abt the tail lights they are being changed soon.... but it is identical to your trunk....

Yea, but if they are OEM minus the spoiler and you try to mount the spoiler it might break from the force of wind coming down on the spoiler (the purpose of a spoiler). If they were made as one piece it would be more structurally sound.

not really, it would still be same mounting points to the same material and the same surface area of c/f....

well see if mine breaks in a few mths when i put my c/f spoiler on.... i dont think anybody has tested it yet honestly...

I think you are right, no one has tested it yet. Keep us updated if it works.

Carbon fiber, if done properly, is very strong. That's the purpose of carbon fiber in race applications. It is very strong for how light it is.

I plan on using the OEM MSP spoiler on my CF trunk, they will be built to support a wing.

Also, it would not be possible to make all that in one piece. You would not be able to pull the parts out of the mold as one. Two pieces would have to be made then connected together later. Also, not everyone would want to keep the stock spoiler design.

didnt think abt that... so the oem one will have to be bolted anyway... so the trunk will be the same as the ones already in production

I still don't know about an OEM spoiler on a CF trunk (looks wise). Post some pics when you get it done.

Yeah, a lot of people have said they would not like that. I like the 03.5 MSP wing, it's got kind of it's own look. I don't want everything carbon fiber back there either.

I was even thinking about the whole indented area around the license plate might look good painted body color. At least have that trim piece above the license plate like Rob did (harder to tell on a black car though). We'll see though, I've got some time to figure out what I'm going to do.

My biggest concern is buying quality products that are safe, will last, and look good.

that is why i broke mine up with the stock black piece above the l.p. but i am getting a c/f spoiler soon that fits my taste and i might have the ends painted balck so all the horizontal pieces are c/f.... i am trying to break it up as much as possible.....damn look at my hood

nope, i like the smooth look, and it has the latch on the inside. So it'll just mean that i'll have to pop it from inside of the car.
