Ok my car has been running fine but I have been hearing a knocking sound when my cars cold and i turn it on. It sounds like its coming from the #3 cylinder. Any ideas what it could be? And second I have oil coming out of my turbo into my top intercooler pipe. Should i get this checked out, because i have to use a new dealer now cause mine is no longer Mazdaspeed certified. My dealer was cool with me having intake and exhaust but I dont know if the new one will be. Plus I have absolutely no time to put my car back to stock. Please any info would be great!!!

you have a bad seal on your turbo most likely. so unless you want to completely ruin the turbo if it isnt already youd better take it in or buy a new turbo.

Oil from the turbo is not going to create a knocking sound in the 3 cylinder. Have you ran more boost before? what kind of gas? what kind of oil? how cold are we talking when this happens?

Yeah I know the oil has nothing to do with the knocking I was just wondering if anybody knows what the knocking could be.
OK so I Use:
Gas- 93 octane only
oil- Mobil 1 5w 30
stock boost, and around 25-30 degrees F
Thanks Guys for caring!

All of that siunds pretty good. The 93 is fine the oil is a low enough number it is good fro cold, at stock boost nothing is your fault.. Have you over heated her before or anyting like that? Usualy you will hear knocking coming from all of them if it is a valve job or something. You might have to bring here in to have a good old warranty check up. Keep in mind noise in the valves is a bad place to let it keep going...

Knocking only when cold on first start-up? It's not rod knock is it?

Some oil is considered normal coming out of the turbo.

No I dont think its rod knock. My uncle has one of those tools where you can listen inside the motor to hear for detonation and knock and shit, so im gonna have him take a listen soon.

for safe measure, i'd throw the stock airbox back on, it takes about 30 minutes and may just prevent another "i hate mazda dealerships" thread.

I would second that if you are going to bring it into mazda. It is amazing the shit they come up with when something breaks, and they dont feel like fixing it.

Why take chances. Put the airbox on and take it back. It should be checked out for sure.
