Interior Help

Before I go ripping anything apart I thought I'd see what others have done. The circled area in the picture below, to remove that, what all is entailed? What all is that area (ash tray/lighter) connected to (if you wanted to replace it what all would you have to buy)?

Nobody has pulled this apart before?

I've been thinking about taking out the ash tray/cig. lighter and build a panel there for gauges, turbo timer, etc.

I think thats what we are gonna do to my car... and not only have i not seen my car in 2 months, but i didnt drive it for more than 3 days, and I forget what the interior looks like....

i'm probably going to do the same on mine only put my headunit down there

I've thought about putting a screen down there also. But it seems like it would be more prone to damage down there.

I spend a lot of time in traffic so I've had time to come up with a number of ideas. :)

the head unit fits nicely in place of the ash tray and lighter area and a screen looks even better replacing the head unit and under tray area..minor cutting involved,
