That's why I'm asking if somebody bought it... cuz if it feels sweet and the quality is good... that sould be a bargain. I'm wondering if it would be worth the risk for 45$
At least is there somebody familiar with alloys that could tell me if the plating is ok?

how is the B&M compared to the kartboy?

B&M (like j-spec) has alluminum assembly, whereas kartboy reuses stock plastic one.
kartboy sits lower.

Damm... just checked someting this morning... if the shifter is 2" lower my hand is gonna hit the handbrake while shifting, unless the throw is really reduced... and from a pic I saw, the Kartboy is the shortest of all..
Here is a pic you must all have seen before... but if the J-Spec is the same height as the B&M... that could give us a good idea. I tried emailing Apex a couple of times to get more details about this shifter but the only answer I got was that the 2003.5 msp knob will fit it. Still doesn't tell me how short it is compared to stock and what is the company that machined it.
(the stock one shown is from a regular protege..)

I just noticed something... if you look at the proportion of the shifter above and below the rotation axle of the J-Spec, it looks smaler than the B&M (to the eye, the B&M seems to have more height above. It is as if the JSpec has the same design that the B&M but with the proportions of the Kartboy) Anybody else thinks that way?

Trust me. My hands a pretty big, and I have no problem whatsoever.

Does the 2003.5 shift knob fits well? And of course, your driving impressions.
Thanks in advance!

i'll let you borrow my twm, if it ever gets here.
i don't trust the price of this j-spec shifter, i'm not saying buy the most expensive, but quality usually has its price, and i hate being cheap with my car.

well i got it installed tonight with the bushings....muhahahaha....sooo much better. its notchy but i like it, itll feel better after i trade gear oil with Redline shockproof lightweight. Install was easy. only thing is the boot, had to be siliconed to the bottom the shifter cause the metal ring on the boot wouldnt go over so removed it and yea. height looks great, now all i need to do is get a jspec shift boot and new knob.... i can post installed pics later cause i didnt have my cam with me at the time.
