Here's the article:

http://automobile.auto123.com/en/info/autonews/index,view.spy?artid=32779

Not officially mentioned in any way but unofficially everyone knows they'll have a Mazdaspeed3 (actually, reporters know even more than they're mentioning, but they're under embargo). Therefore, when it'll be released and what it'll have is pretty much unknown, but all the articles have been converging towards certain attributes (eg. FWD, 2.3l @ around 220hp, etc...), so lets say those are safe bets.

But we're looking at calendar year 2006 to reach dealerships, so it's still very far off.

Unlike the Mazdaspeed Protegé, the forthcoming Mazdaspeed 3 will be a serious street machine with true performance credibility.

I wonder if this will be a limited production run? There's just too many 3's running around now.

Unlike the Mazdaspeed Protegé, the forthcoming Mazdaspeed 3 will be a serious street machine with true performance credibility. It's ironic because magazines wrote the same thing about MP3 when MSP came out, the more things change....

The only major difference is that it will have more power. Who knows what Mazda will do in terms of making a stronger tranny, or internals, etc. to handle it. The MSP handles pretty damn good so it may be tough to improve on the handling. If so, not by much. But I guess we have to wait and see.
