Well - here is the prototype with the guages set in. It is polished to aid the casting process, but the finished product will be black to match the interior of my car.

LOL -

Nope- my bank card got stolen so they canceled all my plastic cash and I had to wait till I could get cash to get gas.

Thats the CNC prototype painted with crappy $1 black paint. hopefully the finished product would be left up to each persons preference as to finish. UNK date for production - im talking to a couple different aluminum foundries

Awesome these will fit my VW that I dont have perfectly!!! Why excatly did you post these links?

Because this thing is slightly bigger then 1 DIN reciever size.
http://www.crutchfield.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/tech/kb23.html
and u will understand that 1 DIN reciever = width of 7.2 inches and height of 2.11 inches.

Also keep in mind that is device sits behind so it has to be slightly bigger than 1 DIN reciever size.
So 7/16" x 2 5/16" x 5/16 is the perfect fit.

guys - I know its been a long time: mainly cause ive been so damn busy with work and school- well I am taking a plastics class and for my project decided to form my panel out of ABS plastic. That is the stock plastic on the MSP dash panels and soon I will be selling these in untrimmed form so that each person can set them in the DIN opening as they wish. They will come in textured (like an old school dash grain ) and smooth. Both would need painting to match your interior.

Prioce has yet to be determined but less than way less than $50 is expected. The buyers would have to pay shipping and no im not a certified vendor or nothing - this is a class project and the ammount available would be limited.

If the mods have a problem with that I will accept emails at soccerscotathotmaildotcom

I will form a list of those who need one and in what order they are asked for. Pricing will be determined at a later date but well under $50.

g'luck

(ps - for those who know - Alum would have worked out to be too much both in cast and billit - so abs it is)

I'm not worried that it plastic I just like the fact that yours seem raised around the edges of the guage(almost angled). Its not going to be just a flat piece of plastic that you sit your guages in right.

Out of curiousity how does that thing stay in place and does it have to be switched with the radio or can you keep the radio in its stock position.

Horse
03-19-2005, 04:09 PM
as below - radio can stay in stock place - I just wanted to switch mine.

The final price is $30 shipped unless your shipping is more than $5 in which case youll pay actual shipping. payments will be by paypal unless other special arraingments are made with me prior to shipping your bezel.

My bezel (the photoed one) is just sitting in the space with the guages placed that way too, nothing is attatched. My thoughts are to permenently mount it like the gauges do, with a strap across the back on two of the posts of the gauges and the strap extending a bit farther than the opening.

Any other questions I missed?

Can I send you a money order then? I've been specifically trying to avoid tapping into my bank acocunt on paypal so that I'm not so tempted to spend money.

unfortunately, I am leaving the country for two weeks, no time to verify my account on paypal. I'll try to do a money order before I leave in the morning, but it might be difficult, pretty tight schedule. I really want this pod, but I might hold you up for 2 weeks, I'll be back on the 11th, hopefully you still have one for me, if not then congrats on making a successful product, no bad feelings just bad timing on my part, I'll try in the morning though. ok - a couple people have pmed me requesting one of the pods, I made as many as I could off of one sheet of plastic, at this time no plans for more are in the works.

The parts have been made, a FINITE number, and they will be sold to the people on the list who have gien me shipping info and paypal me the $30 to soccerscot at hotmail.com

After a reasonable time period has elapsed all remaining pods will be sold first come first serve.

ok - not sure how many people are from canada in this GB from this forum but here goes:

Oldyellerspeed (or however you spell it - its fargen late right now) lives in Canada and I did a shipping qote for his address and it came in within the $5 shipping I had planned for - so any canadian orders are still $30 US (yippy)

If you want to know the correct cycle for gas tank filling/emptying is full to empty each time. This is straight from the mouth of two very knowledgeable Roush racing engineers.

keep it on topic

Horse, how do you get the box under the radio out, I can get to it from the sides, but is there something holding it from behind too? Do I have to pull the HU out to get to that? I am ready to install now, just can't figure out how to get that damn box out. Never mind I got it out. will finnish install in the morning and get some pics up, going to be pretty badass.

I really like the pods you made Horse, thanks for the great deal. Once I got the pod I sanded it smooth, then I used black shoe polish to match it to the interior black pieces. It looks great, better in person, and I pushed the gauges further into the pod after aking these pictures, so they fit flush now. They will match real nicely once I finnally install my brushed rings that I got forever ago. Got it put in yesterday so here it is:

The only thing I think you could get away with is mixing a metallic silver and a yellow together, no better yet, use a metallic silver base and a couple of coats of a yellow translucent to get it to the right shade. its possible.

did you trim the edges down? I just trimmed mine down to a little lip around the edge then took out the black box , moved the radio down and then put the pod in, fit just like the black box, held in place by the little metal bar and the silver molding. what are you scratching, the car or the pod?

bazooka joe
07-31-2005, 08:24 PM
well, i keep working at it and got them in the wholes, without cracking the plastic like i did the first time. i just had to keep triming the edge down till they fit. thanks for the help by the way.
