View Full Version : Cutting Down on Mazda Big Brother?

I was just wondering if there we could enact, or add an addendum on to the forum rules, sticky, etc. this information.
Possibly, not disclosing location if you are asking or sharing about warrenty work so that Mazda cant call up the dealership before you get there and void your warrenty before you walk in the door?
Taking off the Location part of the information?
Discourge disclosing specifics about the model, color, mods, etc in our sigs?
All i'm saying is that in its current forum Mazda NA is using this forum AGAINST us. Its happened to me, its has happened to other, and could happen to you.
Thoughts on the idea? Please discuss!

yeeaaaa, that is why i stopped posting, i even returned my boost controller before installing it cause i heard of this, there has to be some type of statute that regulates what they can bring to court if it gets that serious. Mazda said that my injen intake broke my wastegate.....or caused it to get stuck.....so how in the hell does that work with a 100,000 mile warranty, esp. when that shit is payed off?

All you have to do is put the disclaimer in your sig like so many others have already done. Me? I just racked up 50,000 miles and did away with the warranty all together. That'll show those bastards!!

There is a lot of us who don't really care if the warrantee is voided. I would rather work on the car myself than let them do a half-ass job because it is warrantee work. Just don't post info that could get your warrantee voided if you care about it.

I normally wouldnt, until it cost me 6000.00. Then I care.

Most everyone found out their production number and posted it on the boards, so that sure gave them a quick way to figure things out. So far I havent had any issues with warranty work, but I havent blown the engine yet either (though I wouldnt expect it to be covered!)Mazda probably didnt make much off the limited run of cars, so any money put out afterwards must be killing them. Though since they are trying to build the mazdaspeed brand, I would think they would be doing whatever they can to keep issues taken care of. Except in the cases of gross negligance.

My warranty was honored without question when my engine blew up at 28,000 miles.
I think your problem may be with your dealer.

if you dont want them to know, dont post, making it a rule is just kind of silly, maybe make it known that MazdaUS is browsing these forums, and that if you post things that could potentially void your warranty there is a good chance they will see it, but dont actually make *rules* against doing things like that...

you dont have to put anything in the location line, and you dont have to tell people what you do to your car. also, those damn disclaimers are worthless.

I agree with you, but for new members coming here, without extensive searching and spending countless hours just getting a feel for this place, THEY WILL NOT KNOW anything about what Mazda NA is doing and therefore are at risk to be screwed. I'm just saying that it is unlikely for a new member to come in here and be like, oh I wont post in here, maybe the manufacture is reading this post. I didnt know they did it when I first started posting. I sure as hell didnt think they actually did it constantly, and I sure as hell didnt think my Dealership would have printed transcripts of my posts on their desk when I went in to see them.
If we dont tell people, how are they supposed to find out? ESP?

daedalus- First off you never answered my questions in your last post. Second off Mazda (as a company) does not read these boards. Some dealers may know of this board because their employees are Mazda enthusiasts, and possibly told their managers.

Did you buy the car new. And did you buy it from a Mazda dealership

I talk about EMS systems with the guys at my mazda dealership. The only thing I have had done warrantee wise is the bushings. Sorry to hear some of the people you deal with are not cool with you. It might be because I'm very open about what I am doing with the car and don't really care if they void my warrantee. They haven't voided it yet.

Most of the time it's not the dealer's fault. By not doing warranty work all the dealer is doing is hurting themselves. If you're denied warranty work because of modifications and or what you posted then it probly has to do with Mazda NA refuseing to pay for the job. Also your aftermarket modification has to directly be associated with the failure of the OEM part. IE an intake will not cause your fuel sending unit to take a shit on you so if the dealer refuses to do the work because of that then just go to another dealer.
I work for a Nissan dealership and we had a guy come in with a blown motor on a spec v sentra. The owner had left their sticker from an SCCA Solo II event on their window and the tech looked it up on the internet and got the guys times and shit. Then he said he wasn't going to do the motor. The owner of my dealership stepped and told him to get his panties out of the bunch and do the fucking motor cause it was worth alot of money to us. So ussually if you're refused warranty work it's most liely cause the dealership wont be able to get Mazda NA to pay for it, not because they're assholes. I got an extended warranty through the my dealer so if I blow a motor all I have to do is have my service manager get on the horn with the extended warranty company and have them warranty a motor or whatever it is that breaks.
If indeed mazda is watching this site then it would probly be smart to remove your production number. As for removing your location, they can't refuse to warranty something on your car based on your location alone, for all they know there are 20 MSP's in your town.

I so have No warranty anymore, The Car Has not had one since 479Km of me owning it becasue of the TURBO, Ha.
So I dont care. I'll continue to post info on my car.
I Live In Canada and own a 2002 White Mazda Protege 5 that I bought at EDWARDS MAZDA on Old Highway 17 in Pembroke Ontario. I paid $23,000 Taxes in and drove it off the lot with Tinting and a Comprehensive Oil Change Plan. All The Thanks to Jack and the rest of the Edwards Dealer Team for hours of tec help and installing AWR Mounts, ACT Clutch, TEIN-SS, ETC..
Unlike everyone else here it seems. I'm not afraid of my Dealer. If you fuck with your car, be honest and they probably wont fuck you around for trying to lie about it.

exactly what i say too ...when i broke the lsd my dealership was cool with me b.c they knew i wasn't going to try to pull a fast one on them ...b.c they knew i was aware that i didn't have a warrenty they still gave me warrenty for little things even though they probably didn't have to.... you have to pay to play and if you are honest they will treat you better.

I never expected them to do anything about it because it was my desision to Build it and Blowing it was the risk. They have given me so much support.
It's like, I'm waving the Mazda Banner for my area and creating so much hype about a Honda dominated slice of the market, that they see it as Free Pub. I let the owner take the MP5T out for a rip for no reason rather than to show him why I did it. He came back with a massive smile and he tossed me the keys for his brand new Ti-RX-8 6 Speed. I'm talking like 145Km on the Odom. What a sweet rocket!
It pays to have a good relation with the dealer so they have a face for the name and know what your all about.

i dont think mazdaNA reads these forums to know whos doin what to there car, they read it to get feedback from customers and potential customers.

I agree. I think a lot of people get caught up in that Mazda is jacked up because a few people have had problems, but really I bet more people have had good experiences than problems. I think they made me a pretty decent car for a pretty decent price. I agree there probably are some pricks who work for them, but that is true with any company. I wouldn't think twice about buying another Mazda.
