Hey guys, I started a thread in the main car audio section looking for a little help because I know nothing about subs and what makes them better then another one. Speakers are very subjective. What one person likes another may not.

What makes subs better or worse generally are the materials used in manufacture and the efficiancy(sp) of the speaker...meaning higher eff. = louder with 1 watt compaired to another ineff. speaker with 1 watt. So if you have a small amp you want an eff. speaker....ie one that will make good efficiant use of the power that is given to it.

So go for a sub you like the sound of, has a realitivly high efficiency number, and has a rubber surround (connecting the cone to the basket) and prolly a plastic cone for longevity.

Possible brands - Boston Acustics(sp), Alpine, Polk, JL.
