Has your radio done this before?

The problem is that when I started the car yesterday nothing was displayed on the radio face. The face was not displaying the radio stations nor the CD even when I could hear the music. Has this happened to you? I even reset the radio and still nothing on display, but when I fold the face to insert a CD it works.

You might want to take out the face and try and reseat it. It sounds to me like it's not getting a proper contact.

i've had my deck replaced at least once (maybe twice) - the kenwoods are just pissy.

weird stuff, like in the middle of playing a cd the numbers on the deck just start getting bigger and bigger (like a stopwatch) very quickly. also, starting the car and not having the display come up.

just take it to the dealer, tell em the problem, and they'll probably get you a new deck.

Make sure the connections int he back of the faceplate are lining up correctly. You could stuff something behind the tabs on the left and right that hold the faceplate in place. This will help align your electrical connectors on the back of your faceplate.

Do a search on this and you'll find a thread with pictures posted a few months ago. I'd try this before going to the dealer as a new faceplate can take up to 6 weeks to get delivered depending on the dealer.

I tried everything but nothing worked. I made an appointment at a mazda dealer and they are going to look at it, we'll see.

Yeah my display just went out last night. Got in the car after work and it was sundown and didnt notice till i got home. I was like "WTF!!" There was nothing, the only thing lit were the small buttons and volume circle, but it still played. Took it into the dealer today and have a new one on order. Supposedly its been a nightmare for Mazda dealing with Kenwoods system on this car. My complaints are noisy amp/sub deck which ive adjusted or fixed, two blown subs, my face flipping down like 10 times by itself-had to reset, and now the display is out!!!:( When it works its great and when you learn all the functions. But right now all I want is consistency in a system.
