ya, I have the car sitting in the garage with the negative off the battery, as a last resort. If it still doesnt work when I leave for work tomarrow, I'll just buy a new one I guess. I'd rather buy a new one and put it in myself than have the dealer monkeyin with it. Everytime I had the headunit replaced in the mp3 they scratched up the dash.

Any tips on a good head unit? Or a good deal on one? I really just need a pre amp. I use all external amps now.

SO you need 3 preamps?
What else do you want it to have?

Alpine has the CDA9825 which has 3 preouts but not much else. You could also go all the way up to there CDA9833 or 35 for about $500.

GIve me a price range and desired features and I'll give you some options.

why do you have to leave it that way overnight? disconnect the negative, pump the brakes about 3-5 times, and reconnect.

Your amps should have crossovers, why does you deck need them?
Alpine CDA9831 would be a good one to start with. If you want the 5 channel paramentric EQ and even more time aligment then the 9833 is the way to go. the 9835 only has a different display, nothing more over the 9833.
Also Pioneer should not be overlooked. They are a bit cluttered for my taste though. Still a good unit. The DH-7600Mp is where I would start looking and move up in features as desired.

Matthew, no reason really. I just parked the car and yanked the negative, then went inside and ate dinner =). I'll worry with it in the mornin.

Most any deck with crossovers will have 3 preouts.

i admire you. when i have a problem, i feel the need to have resolution at the end of everyday. except with this fucking fuel situation im having, then im perfectly content to have it never work as long as i own the car.

Its a good unit, I would go with somehting like the 860 or 760 for its more conventional look.

The 960 is PIMP. It has to have the smoothest motion I have yet to see on a head unit.

there was a thread on this a while back. Something with the two tabs on the left and right of the head unit (not the faceplate) which hold the faceplate in place. These tabs get weak over time and the prong connectors in the back of the headunit no longer match up correctly. Someone fixed this by placing a little piece fo foam or something behind the tabs to make them stiffer and they held the faceplate in place better, solving the problem.

Can't you just take the fuse out for the radio, put it back in, and then it's all fixed? That's what I did when mine flipped out and didn't go back in.

When mine acts up, I stab at the slot with a CD and repeat the mantra, "Stupid Fucking Kenwood" over and over.....and this seems to work everytime, but may be too technical and involving for some to execute while driving.

THats the same as hitting reset or disconnencting the batter for a few minutes. Basicly it just cuts power to the unit.
